Swedish Tournaments 2008
Swedish Tournaments 2008
Hi everyone!
Im the Swedish ETC captain and during the tournament me and Kaarle talked about trying to get some swedish players to finish tournaments and some finish players to the swedish tournaments.
As a way of doing this im going to update this thread with some basic information about the swedish tournaments that are planed.
If a tournament sounds interesting just ask me for more details.
We have a forum where all our tournaments are posted, its all in swedish but for those of you who can read swedish you can head over there yourself: http://swfbr.ipbhost.com/index.php?act=idx
Planed Tournaments:
Battle Royal 13-14/ September
2250pts using a modifyed WPS komp system that can be found here:http://www.vasteraswarhammer.se/Kompmall.htm
In Västerås, usually around 70 players.
Västerås is a small swedish town realy close to Stockholm, the best way to get there is to get to Stockholm and then take a 1hour train ride from there. I or the organisers can provide more details.
Homepage: http://www.vasteraswarhammer.se/BattleRoyal1.htm
Fantasia Fanatic 18-19 October
2250pts as of now undecided restrictions, but similar to ETC restrictions.
In Umeå, usually around 60 players
Umeå is a small town in the northern part of Sweden, since im not from around there im a bit uncertain but I think its possible to take train or bus to get there. Otherwise its probably easiest to fly there. (we do)
Homepage: http://fantasiaweb.se/system/visa.asp?H ... 61&HSID=58
BSK Halloween (okt/nov)
2250pts First swedish team tournament for 4 players, Subjective composition score is used.
I can assist with army design ideas but something similar to Battle royal is to be expected.
In Borås, small swedish town close to Gothenburg. Best is to fly to Gothenburg(landvetter) and then take airport bus from there.
Quest for Atlantis 29-30:e November
2250pts similar composition system to Battle royal
In uppsala, usually around 80 players.
Uppsala is probably the easiest town to get to except Stockholm, get to Stockholm and then take the train there.
Or fly to stockholm(arlanda) and take airport bus from there. Uppsala is really close to Arlanda.

Good to see you here mate. Unfortunately at the moment we don't really have any tournaments to offer for you. I hope we can manage to get some tournaments next year that can attract swedish players to play with us.

I don't speak a word finnish so if you want me to to understand you have to keep to English :)
I realise its probably to late and most people already have planed their tournaments for the year, but i thought it was best to start.
Ill keep this thread(the first post) updated so you guys know what we are planning.

Nice to see that the international lobbying is bearing fruit. With two of the biggest tournament organisers in Finland having effectively quit recently, it's good to see that the scene in the neighbourhood is still alive. I doubt I can make it to Sweden this year, but I'll keep an eye on my calendar as well as yours.

Re: Swedish Tournaments 2008
Duly agreed with the Captain. It's very nice to see people seeing through the trouble of discussing things like this, and more over doing something about it. Perhaps we should dig into the forum of yours and have someone update some info about our coming tournaments also, be they either large or small. As said, there's going to be very few large tournaments coming up in years to come without GW to support the activities, save the annual Ropecon tournament.
We'll be having more tournies of smaller scale however, and personally me and my friends would be more interested in tournaments of 30 people or less - those gigantic things just don't inspire the style of gaming we're attempting to uphold. I'd really hope you'll find the smaller ones intriquing as well as the bigger ones - some international touch wouldn't hurt at all. Honestly, with GW abandoning their game like they have been doing recently it really should be up to the players, worldwide, to keep the spirit up.
And, as a sidenote, we share the the same name, if your forum nick is your own. :)
Time to rehearse my swedish a bit, it seems...

Indeed, nice to see some action instead of usual talking. ;)petrus_ kirjoitti: I realise its probably to late and most people already have planed their tournaments for the year, but i thought it was best to start.

I'll keep the eye on October/November tournaments, since I have basically nothing to do by then. Might even stay in Sweden for a week or so and attend two! At least if I find someone like minded, since being alone in strange country of some Swedish folk might be scary. : P
P.S uh, anyone can translate those Swedish texts to English/Finnish in case there's something important? ^^ (Yes, I know I should had studied Swedish better. : <)
Re: Swedish Tournaments 2008
Ihan vain kysyin miten voi rekisteröityä niitten foorumiin, koskei toiminut ihan automaattisesti. Tämä siis tärkeätä vain niille jotka meinasivat kirjoittaa jotain ruotsalaistenkin sivuille! ;)Nazreg kirjoitti:P.S uh, anyone can translate those Swedish texts to English/Finnish in case there's something important? ^^ (Yes, I know I should had studied Swedish better. : <)

The translation is decent but im uncertain on how accurate it is for tournament details.
Ill keep in mind that you want to know about smaller tournaments to, theres usualy around 10 tournaments of the bigger size in sweden every year.
