Have not been able to get started because of a ton of stuff at work - so last night I decided to just go over and put my hand down in a box and paint whatever I grabbed. Fortunately for me I grabbed a Mid Nor cavalry guy that I now have to paint in four days (I won't have time next week). Wish me luck! :-)

Will post pictures tonight as I am making it part of a tutorial I am writing for a big blog.

I managed to make the primer layer too rough again. I think next I will be buying a matte white paint, not a "primer". Anyway, I tested the intended color scheme. There is just some basic hilights and shadows to see the real colors. I think I will be making the brown more orange, the red a little more purple to separate it from the orange. To make the armor more shiny, I will add contrast, make it go from black to white, going through those blue shades.



The flag will be the same color as the inside of the cape, blade of the spear will be same blue as the armor. The outside of the cape will have tiger stripes, and maybe the boots and gloves too. I was thinking about painting the tigers head to the shield and under it maybe a paw. The same paw could be on the flag, and even that feels like I'm having too many different tiger elements on the figurine.

You are probably spraying too much and/or from too far or you didn't stir the paint enough. Or the moon's direction was wrong or something along those lines. You really don't have to cover all the model with the primer. Just most of it. I'd consider stripping the mini as you haven't painted that much yet. Check this article for a good example of priming: Urmuth by Automaton. It's a good read for anyone else too who wants to learn a little about painting with thin coats and use of colour on skin.

I really should paint something for a change - it's been weeks. Maybe something simple as a careful start.. I've the whole goddamn house full of minis to choose from.

(technical tidbits on photography: taken with Canon 1000D, with Asahi Opt. 75-150 manual Pentax-K lens with an EOS-converter and a 1x macro ring, flash with Nissin i622 external TTL flash that was reflected from the ceiling, taken without a stand with f7-8 (around that anyway, it's a bit difficult to determine exactly with this lens), 1/200 s exposure time, ISO 400)

Silveri, your picture is quite small. According to the rules it should be about twice that size. Looks great though, I'd like to see more details :)

Thanks. Gamezone miniatures are actually quite great but the company's pics don't seem to honor them so much. There are so much character in them when you see them live. Also thanks to the rather "plain" design and the missing acrobatic-monkey-poses, they are such a sandboxes in conversion means too.

But I'm not sure am I getting the dwarf ready in time because I had to return back to square one, since I unfortunately managed to ruin the painting. Dwarf's already having his soap bath.

I do it with really thinly rolled pieces of green stuff that when I attach them I "shape" a sepration in them turning it into two strands.

Regarding the primer - try P3 paints primer - I love that one!

This one is SOOOO AWESOME!!! Really a paintjob that makes the sculpt better and more interesting - yours is the one they should use on the box. Five stars out of five from me!!!

Actually, the width was correct, but the 2x2 -field made it worse. Here's a 1 x 4 version with 400 px width.

I'm a bit embarrassed to note that I thought that the deadline was next week. Heard the real state of affairs tonight at a party. My mini had been almost base coated, so when I got home at seven or so I had to rush quite a bit. I'm an extremely slow painter and I'm very bad at working late, so yeah. But I was determined to get something finished, so here it is:

I can tell that I didn't get my Oniwaban painted due to laziness and lack of time.

Figurine is ready but I'm still taking pictures...

Sorry I'm late, hope these will still do.

Tiger pattern is amazing!
