I had the chance to go and visit the design studio early this year as part of a job interview and got to see much of the upcoming material for the wood elves, though it seemed as if it was still in the very early stages of development.

Fact 1: Alex Hedström is one of the main guys in charge of the miniatures

Fact 2: The miniatures are very savage in apperance, and their hairstyles much more celtic and ornate than that of the high elves or dark elves.

Fact 3: Wood Elf women participate much more in the new army than before, they are now to be found both as charachters and as as rank and file units

Fact 4: The fluff is undergoing a mayor haul...the wood elves are now a race bordering on extinction, savagely fighting anyone and resorting to massive purges of their sorrounding lands, as well as migrating a lot to ensure their survival. This means their armies are not only restricted to guerrilla warfare but also capable of full size head to head engagements, though their numbers are few and they rely heavily on allied troops and special units (sylvan spirits and animal kindreds are amongst these).

Fact 5: First wood elves should hit the stores around nov-dec 2005

Fact 6: Chariots will not be reappearing, neither will glade riders (they are to be replaced by another option)

Facy 7: Wood elves will have the same rules as Beastmen herds when it comes to formations, except they have better chances of appearing as they do not suffer from the Unruly rule

Fact 8: The only miniatures I saw were somebasic archers and waywatchers, the archers had somesort of organic armour that was a mix of pieces of wood and rope and leaves, some had more heavier type of armour than others and the Waywatchers were really stunning, looked like present day waywatchers but in very dynamic poses (one seems to be jumping down shooting in mid air)


Thats all folks, GW is very secretive about the whole project and I wasnt allowed to see more...
