Hi SoB-fans.
Rejoice. I had a nice chat with Graham McNeill at the German GD, and I thought you'd like some of the news.
So without further ado, this is what he said:
GENERAL
The SoB Codex (Ordo Hereticus, Witchhunters, IIRC) will be released in april-may 2004. The book is written, the rules and most new figs are done, they're awaiting the artwork to arrive.
MODELS & RULES
The whole range will be in pewter. No plastic figs, because of technical issues (had to do with the castingproces for plastics that doesn't allow the level of detail they try to achieve...)
They'll stick to the existing range ('because we love the models'), but will add some updates.
- new helmets
- new (v3) weaponry
- new canoness, new sister superior, sisters with stormbolters, etc...
(there were a few of these on show, but they were painted so it was difficult to see whether these were conversions, or already the 'real' stuff...)
And they've planned some cool 'newbies':
- sisters repentia; 'giant women with giant swords', that should give the sisters some 'berserkerlike' CC-troops. These are led by some kind of character clad in 'clerical' ornamented armor, with a slightly sado maso look.
- new witch hunter inquisitors. A few were on show; one looked like a renaissance noblewoman, another like a puritan (mordheim) witchunter woth a kind of flamer-gun.
Both got the 40k-sauce treatment, both looked very cool
- new servoskulls and cherubs
- archoflagellants, d6 S5 (IIRC) attacks, on a throw of 6 they succumb to batllecraze and die because of all the drugs and stress... Mmmh, goblin fanatics in 40K...
2 figs were on show, and they looked quite cool
- knightly figures with large shields (+- the new bretonnia look) embossed with the =I=-symbol. Models were cool, but I don't know what they were exactly. Inquisitors?
- new tanks, including a missile launching type (organ gun). The weapon looks like an organ, and the 'gunner' is a sister playing hymns to the Emperor on the keys of an organ. The keyboard acts also as the control panel. d6 krak missliles each round.
Should become 'probably one of the hardest tanks in the game'.
- the sisters rhino will look 'different', they don't want it to look like a rhino with sister icons addes. Expect to see 'shrines, skulls, statues and the like' in the kit, so maybe they'll make an extra sisters sprue???
- another tank, like 'nothing they've done before'. Should include a large windshield of some kind.
- a walker. Take a sentinel, give it arms with flamers and a scissorlike powerclaw. Add a tied up sister repentia to the front. This was called a punisher (or punishment?) sarcophagus, and should something like a light sisters-dreadnaught...
This walker can also be (wo)manned by a regular Sister oB.
2 new special characters
- an inquisitor in some kind of walker. Some kind of Judge Judy instant-trial kit.
The =I= is sitting on a throne (taht's the cockpit of a sentinel, I guess),
on his right side is a servo-scribe (quils as fingers) scribbling down what the =I= is saying to the poor soul/heretic that is lead in front of him, and on his left side is a gun servitor that 'executes the verdict'. Armed with a flamer, IIRC
- the living saint. I heard the name (Candida) but have no more info on her.
That's about it. The concept sketches and the figs on show were really neat!
I for one can't wait until next year...
