Tarina siis on englanniksi kirjoitettu, kuten viisaimmat teistä päättelivät tuosta otsikosta. Tarinan tarkoitus on kuvailla Asekin puolustuksen taisteluja. Mutta tässä se tarina nyt sitten on, yrittäkää olla lynkkaamatta minua, 'tos.

The Asek Defencive, Part One, The Beginning

A beautiful morning with a sun rising over a nice, open area. Grass was gently moved around by the morning wind. One tree is growing in the open. A pretty nice tree, with it's deep green leaves raffling in the wind. The wind stops suddenly. A high screaming noise fills the air and a lone bomb hits the ground near the tree, blowing off chucks of the ground and grass. You could almost imagine the tree wailing in pain and crying for the loss of a particularly nice bit of ground and grass. Soon the tree finds out that the bomb wasn't lonely, thousands of it's self-destructive metallic friends are raining down on the now not so peaceful grassy opening. Explosions ravage the ground and the tree wails even more. One bomb hit's the tree and blows it up in one big 'boom' littering sharpnel and branches onto the ground.

In the nearby Imperial city, Private Johnson, member of the Asekian Planetary Defence Force, currently commanding a small guard tower was able to let out "What in the name of the Em.. GRAAAAAAGH!", before he and his guard tower were blown to bits. This made the currently working population of the town to panic and scream out things like "The Emperor is here to punish us" and "Save the children!", also "We're doomed" was pretty popular among the people closest to the first explosion. Another bomb fell into the city, destroying the right wing of a weapons factory. Even more bombs fell down on the city destroying a power plant and various other locations. More people were killed, more houses were destroyed.

The citys barracks had a group of white skinned guardsmen run out of it before it was immolated by a firebomb. The guardsmen cursed loudly amd kept running. There was no way to fight agaisnt falling bombs, so it was a retreat. And they kept running out of the town, being joined by some of the other survivors of the city - now a war torn ruin. The group reached the forest that grew close to the town. A nice forest to hide from a bombing. Sergeant Rover, a white skinned guardsman, peeked out of the forest to see the town he had sworn to protect burning. He and his squad were just about to go on their routine morning patrol when the first bomb hit the city. So fortunatley they were in full battle uniform. Altough Rover had left his helmet into the barracks. He was rather sorry about it, for it was a nice helmet.

"Who attacked?", "Why?" were some of the questions aimed at Rover, he being the highest ranking alive man on the scene, but he didn't know. Rover ordered to call help from a nearby Imperial Fort, the Fort Mour, with the help of trooper Ports vox-caster. Port made the call and reported that help was on it's way. They should just move towards coordinates 54-ef. Sgt. Rover commanded the survivors and his squad to follow him to those coordinates, wich were kindly pointed out by trooper Ki.

"What the hell is going on?" Rover tought as he was walking in the forest.
A peaceful planet like Asek, and something that hideous and unpredictable happening. Who attacked and why? Is this a rebellion against the Imperial cause or a 'mistake' made by the boys of the Artillery Company? Or is this a war? Are we being invaded? So many questions and no clues. We would just have to get to Fort Mour, maybe some answers would lie there. The group reached a road running in the middle of the forest. Trooper Ki pointed out, again, that they were in coordinates 54-ef. This was the designated meeting place for the city survivors and Fort Mours rescuing team.
So the rescue should be coming by a vehicle. Good, Rover tought, he had gotten sick of walking.

He could hear the sound of an engine and the rumbling of tracks. A form of a Chimera came towards them on the road from Fort Mour's direction. Rover could already distinguish the big Imperial Aquila on it's front armour when the chimera came to a stop fifty meters away from him and his group. There was something wrong about the Aquila. Something in Rover Snapped and he screamed "Dive to cover! Hostile Armour!" and jumped into the forest. On the same moment the chimeras multilaser started firing wildly at the slow, un-trained and not genetically modified civilians. Rover turned his head away from the dying and limb-losing civilians, sifthing his attention to his squad members. Ki, Irwin and Port were on the opposite od Rover, on the other side of the road. Okko, Mikaelis and Keep were further away covering in a ditch. Rosenburg, Korporal, was with him some meters to the right, his back agaisnt a tree trunk. Oh right, Ulwe and Ivan weren't with them. He hadn't even noticed that they were gone, like they still were here...

Rover snapped out of his toughts as the chimeras turret turned around to face his poorly covered position in a bush with it's multilaser. He could hear the sound of lasguns firing on the other side, his boys must be doing a counter-attack. Rover put his hand on his belt and grabbed a krak grenade. He unlocked it from the belt and pulled the pin. He waited for a second and lobbed it at the chimeras turret. The grenade flew at the chimera and at the same moment the multilaser started rotating to show it was going to unleash a hail of deadly laser in the next second. A murderous flash filled Rovers eyes and after that a loud bang filled his ears. It wasn't very pleasant.

Ki lunged up from the forest floor, followed by Irwin and Port. All of them readied their lasguns. Ki had planned, that they would ge to the chimeras back and breach it with krak grenades. But the chimera had other things in mind as it opened it's back hatch, revealing ten grey skinned guardsmen. They hurrily exited the chimera and readied their lasguns. Ki stopped his running and aimed at the first grey skin visible, taking the first shot with his lasgun, removing the face of the unfortunate grey skin. This shot was greeted by nine more grey skins, and nine lasguns shots. All at Ki. Suprisingly, he only got hit into his right leg, but this was enough to drop him on his face. Port screamed as he saw Ki fall and started shooting at the grey-skinned soldiers. Irwin aimed with his lasgun and joined Port's chorus of death. His shots found their marks on four targets, but Port only bested one of the grey skins. The return fire was fatal, killing Port with a shot into the head and wounding Irwin to his torso. Then there was a explosion. Ki, even from his current position of lying down face in the road, could see the chimeras turret being blown up. An unfortunate piece of sharpnel from the turret found itself burying deep into Irwins white head. Ki sighed. This wasn't really why he enlisted to the army. But hell, it was a fight, he had to do his best so Sarge wouldn't be embarrassed, Port and Irwin had done their job relying on the Emperor, he wouldn't be seconded by them. He stood up and pointed his lasguns killing end at the grey-skinned soldiers.

He fired his lasgun at one of the grey skins, blowing a hole in his gut. Ki smiled and drew his knife and started closing the gap between him and the rest of the grey skins that were rising their lasguns, ready to blow Ki to kingdom come. Unfortunatley, their plans went down the drain, as Ki had quickly ran right under the grey skins noses. They were astonished by his great speed, and sliced by Ki's great knifemanship. A quick stab in the head killed one of the suprised grey skins, while the face of another one made a unpleasant crack-noise when Ki's iron boot slammed into it. The kick also sent the grey skin flying, slamming into the ground a couple of feet away. Ki pulled his knife out of the others face. The lump body of the grey skinned soldier fell down, it's face sporting now a big wound and lots of deep red blood. Ki smiled again and looked at the last grey skin. He could see him trembling in fear, trying to rise his lasgun to kill him. But too slow, Ki had already slammed his white fist into the last grey skinners face, droppinf him down. Ki crouched over the unconcious body and wiped his bloody knife into his clothing. He checked the knife was clean of blood and slided it back into it's leather holster. A pain went trought his right leg. He didn't really remember it when he was taking use of his genes. Ki fell down.

Rosenburg lifted his bleeding sgt. up. The Sarge was missing his whole left arm. Jackson came in running and helped Rosenburg carry the poor sgt. They went into the empty chimera and laid him down on on of the benches inside it. Jackson ripped open a red crossed cabinet on the chimera wall. He took some bandages and dis-infection liquid out of it and passed them to Rosenburg. "I'll go check out the rest, they might need some help too." Jackson said and got out of the chimera. Rosenburg nodded at Jackson's back. Then he turned to the sgt. "Sorry sir, no medic this time, just your 'ole korporal." he said and started to clean up Rover's wound.

Okko ran to Irwin. "Hey Irwin, you okay mate?" he said. As he got closer he could notice a piece of metal sticking out of Irwin's head. Okko felt like throwing up. But he didn't, he was a guardsman and guardsmen don't throw up when their squadmate has been killed by a nasty looking piece of metal. He turned his red eyes away from Irwin and scanned the area with his eyes. Nice lush forest, a sand road, a camoflauged chimera with a smoking turret and dead bodies. Too many of them. The civilians from before, all dead, you didn't need to check them. Then there were Irwin and Port. Okko went close to Port as he heard his vox-caster cracking. He could hear a message: "Th...Sssss is Fo.sss..t Msssur... reqsssuesss...ngs asSSsi...anc.SSs..rom all nearby unitSs... bein... overrun..by...f..ty..rd coSSmpanSS...traitoSsSSs" the vox went silent. Okko blinked. What the hell? he asked himself and hurried to the chimera. He saw Ki lying on the ground, but he wasn't dead. Okko kneeled down over Ki. Jackson came from the chimera. "Okko, how are the others?" he asked. Okko lowered his head. "Oh... but we need to get Ki's wound treated, help me carry him to the chimera." Jackson said and grabbed Ki's legs while Okko grabbed him by the shoulders. Together they carried him into the chimera and laid him down on the bench not taken up by Rover.

Rosenburg had finished bandagin his sgt. It was a pretty good job, even when he said so himself, maybe he had been a medic in his past life. Ki was okay too, even when there was a good chunk of his right leg missing. Rosenburg turned away from Rover. "Okko, Jackson, are the others dead?" he asked. "Yeah, Irwin, Port, Mikaelis and Keep, all gone." Jackson said. "Wait a minute, I never saw Mikaelis's or Keeps body." Okko said hopefully. "Really? I'll go check for them" Jackson said and went out. Rosenburg looked at Okko, he looked disturbed. "What is it Okko, feeling ill?" Rosenburg asked. "No, not that sir. it's just that outside, when I was checking out Port's body, there was a message from his vox-caster." Rosenburg tilted his head and looked at Okko. "It was something like a call for help. It was from Fort Mour." Okko said and looked at his feet. "What the hell, Fort Mour? Was there anything else?" Rosenburg asked shocked. "Yes there was. It said they were being overrun by some company. And the word traitors was the last thing in it." Okko explained. Rosenburg looked worried. So these were traitors. Altough none of the grey skins had any squad or platoon marking, not to speak of their company. Jackson was outside and didn't hear all that. He was shouting to the forest "Mikaelis and Keep, where are you?" but got no response. He continued this for some time, but still got no repsonse from the forest. Altough he tought Irwin made a noice, but that was just a bird.

"Korporal Rosenburg, no sign of Mikaelis or Keep, what are your orders?" Jackson said as he entered the chimera again. The chimera that had ruined their day, if you don't count the full-scale bombing of their town. Rosenburg sighed. It would be too dangerous to start searching for them, there could be enemy patrols swarming all around them. "Jackson, Fort Mour has propably been overrun by traitorious forces of Antennak Infantre Korps. Yes, our own men. It is possible that only Afriel's have stayed loyal to the Emperor." Rosenburg said while giving Jackson's red eyes a cold stare. Jackson looked suprised. "Is that a.. joke?" he replied. "No, unfortunately we don't joke in the Imperial Guard." Rosenburg said. "It is also uncertain what turned them traitors. Judging from these grey skinned soldiers sent here, it is possible that Chaos is behind this." he continued. Jackson came fully inside the chimera and sat down on the bench that Ki was on. Why did they choose to fight? Everything was going so well on this planet. Were we now totally doomed? And were we going to fight these traitors? Of course we had to fight them, to turn into a traitor and betray the Emperor is an act punishable by death and only death. Atleast us Afriel's were loyal, even when we weren't real humans. Genetically manipulated, grown in tubes by somebody. Drafted into the army because we were evil mutants who had to fight for the Emperor to repay our sins of being made into superioric humans. We didn't have fancy armour. No great guns or equipment. No overly big muscles and inhuman strenght. We are just ready to fight for The Emperor, to never fall back. Never give up. Sometimes we have sightings of previous lifes, leading an attack into the outer galaxy, defending big palaces and blowing up enemy fortifications. Sometimes those skills we had in previous lifes come into play, and we kill many enemies for the Emperor in a blur of skill or coordinate a masterful attack plan. But only this curse, this curse of the white skin and red eyes. Nobody but ourselves respect us. Most people just downright hate us. And bad luck. We sure have lots of it. Maybe this all was because of them and their notoriosly bad luck. Jackson delved into his toughts.

Rosenburg had kept staring Jackson for some time. He was obviously in deep tought. Rosenburg turned to Okko. "We should see if we can get this thing moving." Rosenburg said and clanked the chimeras inner wall. "But what about our friends, and the bodies? Shouldn't we bury them?" Okko said. "We have no time for that Okko, I would love to see Irwin and Port being buried properly, but this is a war. There could be an enemy just behind those trees." Rosenburg replied and pointed out of the chimera into the forest. Okko nodded and moved to the back of the crew area and opened up the door leading into the driving department. He was shocked of what he saw. There was blood everywhere. On the controls, on the floor and in the ceiling. There were also legs on the floor. Just legs. The boots those legs were wearing looked pretty nice. Okko just didn't have the guts to take them for himself. Rover's krak grenade must have killed the user of those legs, poor bastard. Rosenburg passed trough the petrified Okko. "Cha cha cha, what a mess." he said smiling and sat down on the bloody chair that was situated near the controls. The drivers chair, wich wasn't very soft. Rosenburg studied the controls for a minute or two and tried to turn the chimera on. The motor rumbled and sprung to life. Rosenburg pulled the back door activation lever. The backdoor closed with a loud clanck. Rosenburg turned again and smiled at Okko. But where would they go? Obviously Fort Mour wasn't a possibility. Using the chimeras vox-system would have resulted in bringing every close-by enemy patrol their way. So, the only thing they could, was to drive forward until they reached a friendly town or patrol. They would need to ask Ki about that when he woke up. Rosenburg pushed the gas levers with his feet and the chimera started going forward. He smiled at the chimeras now growing speed. It was going forward. Forward on the road to hell. And they were more than willing to take that road. "Why don't we call her Bloody Mary?" he asked from Okko. Okko smiled and said "Sure, why not."
