The Uncivilization
Jammorn Lorearthen was the name of known noble. He had born at year 546, in Karaz-a-Karak. He was in fight against high elves in year 640. His face was bruised and full of scars. Somebody had bruised them really hardly, maybe grinded to some rock.
Name of war (where he was) was Yak Breatra. In that war was a great dragon named Yak and its high elf rider Breatra.
In year 645 Jammorn and female dwarf named Dardiana Dagark got a son. Son was named Nobey Malugaond.
-Year 659 Jammorn Lorearthen died on war of Grudge against ugly rat-men Skaven. Nobey’s mother Dardiana died on some unexplained disease. Nobey started warrior training in Karaz-a-Karak. He trained dwarf handgun. Warrior trainer David Riiruk noticed his skills with Dwarf handgun.
It was year 660, autumn.
“Lord Jakob Myskin, I have seen the skills of Nobey Malugaond and I’m suggesting that you promote him to Dwarf Thunderer.” Nobey saw lord of Karaz-a-Karak. He was looking him.
“He’s very young, David. He is just an apprentice”, he said quite silently.
“You don’t know anything about him lord Myskin; he would be very useful at war.”
Nobey did stand proudly and calm, he watched lord Myskin. He had promised to revenge to the Skaven for killing his father.
Alright then, lord said. Nobey walked away keeping his happiness inside him.
Bullet did hit to the target witch was appeared to be goblin. No dwarf can shoot beyond when target is goblin. Dwarf named Grottt Ingkar laughed to Nobey’s shot.
“Ridiculous! You didn’t even hit to the head!” Grottt said. He was trainer of Nobey. Nobey and Grottt was similar, both of they never forgot a grudge. Every kill, every pain of dwarf is must to be revenged. Grottt’s brother Isaac had died on war against many orcs and goblins.
“Dwarfs were ready to defend their home Karak Kadrin. There weren’t lots of them. Only few hundred dwarfs against almost thousand orc and goblin. Orcs got superiority, but it was cowardly to run away from battle.
Unforgiveness for grudges gave strength to dwarfs.
Revere the ancestors, obey your king, bear your arms with pride, fear no foe, hate the Greenskin, mistrust the Elf, and you can do no wrong.
And most important instruction, do not forget the grudge.
And what has Greenskin done to the dwarf? Do not forget the grudge, and you can do no wrong.
Catapults were on the top of the fortress of Karak Kadrin. Hundred Thunderers were standing on great walls of Karak Kadrin. Looking down did make dwarfs full of anger. Remembering the grudges, what has Greenskin done to dwarf?
Grudge throwers did shoot off and entire orc and goblin army ran towards Karak Kadrin.
I saw at least ten ugly, slimy trolls throwing rocks to the gate. I knew that it wasn’t going to work very quickly, because dwarven quality.
My brother Isaac was standing beside me. We both heard order, fire free.
Giant rock did hit below us and we fell down to orc and goblin flood. Stones, did shoot by grudge thrower killed many of them. I did leave my handgun and I gripped to axe.
We killed lots of them. It was very easy to kill those slimy little bastards.
But then I saw huge orc coming. I’ve never seen orc like that. It ran toward us. It was holding a huge sabre. My brother ran and he stroked his hammer to huge orc’s knee. I heard when it crushed and orc screamed cowardly, screaming help. It raised the sabre and my brother couldn’t dodge.”
Nobey had ever seen his father’s grave. He looked it from everywhere but he didn’t found it. He found his mother’s grave
To my son, Nobey Malugaond
I know that you had heard your father’s story when he went to War of Yak Breatra. I know that he has told you about that. Do you know where that war was? No? The war was in Karak Izor.
Dardiana Dagark, Blessings Of Sigmar Upon Her
Nobey took his good friend Grottt with him to journey to Karak Izor. He wrote his journey.
DAY 1
It doesn’t belong to dwarfs nature to lie. It doesn’t belong to dwarfs nature to betray. If dwarfs hate somebody or something, they shout it to them face.
Dwarfs still have their proud, and they do as they have been told. No lying, no betraying.
Betraying, lying, those are so childish and irritating! And elf do that all time!
That’s it. That’s why dwarfs hate the Elf.
And then those green-skins, those slimy goblins, orcs and trolls, those Greenskins can’t speak civilized. They just roar, yell, growl and mutter, so indistinct! Why? Because they are green-skin! They are stupid! And you can’t change that to any way!
Once stupid, always stupid! They are uncivilized and bloodthirsty! Those things are disgusting and irritating! That’s why dwarfs hate Greenskin.
Skaven, then, hairy rat-men, just like green-skin! Uncivilized!
And another thing, they just copy our war machines. Cheap copy! Cheap and in poor state!
And again that uncivilization; SCREAMING BELL! Unbelievable! Ridiculous! Just screaming around the battlefield, what would you use with screaming bell?!
Rat ogres are full of warts, wrinkles, moles and mud! There is no dwarf, who cannot resist slaughtering rat-ogre. That’s why dwarfs hate Skaven rat-men.
Those were summaries of three books, by David Bonanben, who had eruption of feeling while writing those.
There is only one dwarf philosopher in the Old World. David Bonanben has done many books about dwarf anger. Why? Why does dwarf hate everyone? You’ll find the answers from these books: Dwarf & Elf, Dwarf & Greenskin, and Dwarf & Skaven.
I did read these books today.
We’re almost at Barak Varr.
DAY 2
Grottt read those three books and he said:
“Total garbage.”
We’ve passed Barak Varr and ahead us is quite big desert.
At desert we found one human hermit. He wasn’t hospitable and he was angry and he just tried to eject us far away from his camp.
But I liked him. He was one of the rare human’s who didn’t say anything about dwarf shortness to us. He didn’t care. If he would say anything witch would insult Dwarf’s proud, I would rip his head of and I would hang it to my Dwarf handgun.
In the beginning, when we met him, he wasn’t very hospitable, but with Grottt we’ve made him to our friend. We’re sleeping at him this night. We have told jokes about Elves and Greenskin. He is very comfortable.
DAY 3
I’m so happy! With Grottt we are persuaded him to come with us to Karak Izor! Human hermit’s name is Ianhorn Droverson. He is a bard. Grottt and I heard him playing and singing this morning. He is very charismatic person.
We left Ianhorn’s little camp and we continued our journey to Karak Izor. This evening we arrived to Karak Hirn. We made camp outside Karak Hirn. Ianhorn read the three books: Dwarf & Elf, Dwarf & Greenskin, and Dwarf & Skaven. He liked them, maybe because he doesn’t know lot about dwarf. Those three books gave information to him.
DAY 4
We have entered to forest. Behind forest we’ll find end of our journey. Forest is very rough road. When we were walking, I asked Ianhorn about fighting. Ianhorn laughed for answer. “You don’t even know”, he said. I had no idea what he was talking about.
I found it out midday after lunch. We ate bird and rabbits witch Grottt did shot down. Many birds. I did bite one last bite from my bird and I drank beer.
“Treeman”, Ianhorn said. For reflex I took my dwarven handgun and I watched around. Ianhorn sat relaxed. I didn’t see anything. I thought it was joke, but then, from nowhere came bough of tree and it captured me. It raised me to air. Grottt took his handgun and he did shot the treeman. When he noticed that it didn’t work he took his hammer. He cutted off the bough witch was capturing me. I was free.
Ianhorn started to sing. I shouted to him. “What the hell are you doing?” I watched treeman coming to us. It stopped and it fell to the ground. “Oh, you are that kind of bard.”
On fifth day, Nobey, Ianhorn and Grottt arrived to Karak Izor. Nobey had no idea where would they look for his father’s grave.
“Why do you want to find your father’s grave?” Grottt asked me.
“In my mother’s grave was writing. I think she wanted that I come to here. Perhaps in my father’s grave is writing too. I think he wants that I’ll find out something.”
They walked to graveyard.
To my son Nobey Malugaond
You have found my grave and I’m no afraid that somebody will break this letter before you’ll come. Dwarfs have proud and respect towards other dwarfs.
I have told you about the war of Yak Breatra. I have told that dwarfs won that battle. But that is wrong. High elves won it. Dwarfs were handling the war, but then came the Yak and its rider Breatra. Sorry, I hadn’t told you that, but I was so ashamed. I think you understand. My face went bruised on that war.
Yak was the big dragon; it destroyed our chance to win. You mustn’t forget the grudge. Only thing I ask, kill Yak and Breatra. You can found them at mountain range north-east, The Vaults.
Jammorn Lorearthen, BOSUH
Thoughts flew around Malugaond’s mind. What about the Skaven who killed him? Kill Yak and Breatra. That was the grudge what his father gave to him.
Mountain range The Vaults was small.
“And here is supposed to be high elf camp?” Nobey heard Ianhorn shouting. There was hard wind and it swished on their ears.
“I trust my father.”
They saw edge forwards. They walked there and watched down. Down was great cave. Nobey smiled and soon it changed to laughing. Yak waited for its killer. They hurried down.
Entrance to the cave was big, big enough to let dragon pass… Area around it was old battlefield. It was sure that dwarfs were other party who were fighting.
There were destroyed war machines, broken dwarf weapons and everything, witch belongs to dwarf. Grottt found entire bolt thrower. It was in good state. Nobey took it with them to kill the dragon. They heard sound, sound of horn.
Grottt was placing the bolt thrower but I raised my hand to him.
“Don’t you recognize that horn, Grottt?” Grottt surprised. Dwarf horn. Then just from nowhere huge Dwarf army marched behind mountains. Every Dwarf ready for battle. Nobey, Ianhorn and Grottt saw when one of the Dwarfs walked away from line. He raised his hand, when he noticed that they were Dwarfs.
“I am commander Gargudal, what are you doing here?” Gargudal watched Ianhorn very doubly.
“We are looking a dragon named Yak. We are revenging a grudge!” I said proudly and fearlessly.
“A Dragon? Here? Where did you hear that?”
“By my father’s grave. And may I ask what are you doing here?”
“We are in Skaven hunting. We heard that in The Vaults is Skaven army. In that cave ahead. They are so near Karak Izor that we must crush them.” Nobey confused.
“Skaven..? Would you like for some new units to your army. I am accepted to Dwarf Thunderer.
“I respect you. Only because you’re Dwarf. If you betray me, I will be ashamed, because in my race is one betrayer. I’ll trust the Dwarf. What do you use by a weapon?”
“We’re using bolt thrower, and if there is a need, we’ll use anything to crush.”
“I like you…”
Regiments were on their places. At least thousand Dwarfs and one Human did stand in front of great cave. Musicians played their instrument to wake up the enemy. It was cowardly to attack when enemy sleeps.
Nobey, Grottt and Ianhorn did stand at the edge of Dwarf army. When entire army started to march to the cave, they sighed, the wait was too long. Was there Skaven or Dragon?
Inside the cave was dark. Miners took care about light. Rocks were sharp and long, mostly they reached to cave roof. Every musician played their instruments again. Rhythm of march went harder. And soon whole Dwarf army was running towards end of the cave.
Old Dwarf telling about Second War of Yak Breatra:
Miners ready to dig, Warriors ready to war, Slayers ready to slay, machines ready to shoot.
Skaven army was down at the cave. In front of Dwarfs was steep downhill. At end of the cave was something big, witch Dwarfs couldn’t recognize because of darkness. It had big wings and great horns.
Entire cave was quiet. Only few Rat-men growled. Commander Gargudal waited a good moment to give order. He looked the big thing at end of the cave. It didn’t move. He was decided to give order when the monster moved even a little bit. But it didn’t move. How whole Skaven army could just stand patiently, when in front of them were Dwarfs? They should be blood thirsty and uncivilized. Maybe there was something greater, witch could order them. Skaven were just so soiled that they could be Dogs of War.
Something was ordering them. A Dragon perhaps?
Commander couldn’t wait. That Skaven army was so ugly and the monster didn’t move. He must kill those ugly little animals!
Grudge Throwers, Bolt Throwers, Cannons, and one goblin Hewer had shot. Skaven army immediately started to run towards Dwarf army. Warriors, Slayers, Hammerers, Ironbreakers, and Longbeards gripped their weapons and waited Skaven.
Mostly all Bolt Throwers were pointed to shoot the big thing at end of the cave.
If Bolt Thrower didn’t shoot it, it did shoot rat ogres running around cave.
All melee warriors were first. Behind melee warriors were Thunderers and Cross-Bows. Behind Thunderers and Cross-bows were war machines.
Only one war machine was at the line of Thunderers. One Bolt Thrower.
Screaming Bell came towards to the Dwarf army. The Bell started to ring and Skaven got more power to the battle. Soon Skaven noticed that Screaming Bell didn’t react anyway to Dwarven army. Dwarven army was full of hate and they didn’t even hear the Bell screaming in the music of battle.
Then at last one Bolt Thrower got bored on the Scream. The crew of Screaming Bell was small; one Grey Seer at top of The Bell and one Bell ringer.
The Bolt Thrower pointed to wood made hull, witch was total rotten. On one shoot entire Screaming Bell was just garbage at battle ground.
Then at the end of the Cave came hundreds of Rat Ogres.
The monster was still immovable and at the shadows of the cave. When Bolt Throwers did notice that their shots to the monster were useless, they changed their target to the army of Rat Ogres. Plague of Rat Ogres was visible and they were rotting before dwarfs.
Thunderers started to shoot the great Rat Ogre Party. Their warts and pimples were exploding when Dwarf Thunderers did shoot to them. Rat Ogres Screamed when new pustule exploded.
Only about ten Rat Ogres were killed when they reached the first warriors. “Small” rat-men gave way when Rat Ogres came with rage.
Commander Gargudal was captured by Rat Ogre. Then one Bolt Thrower – where was strange crew; two dwarfs and one human – aimed to that Rat Ogre. They did shoot and shot did hit to the belly of the Rat Ogre. Commander was saved.
The Bolt Thrower of three heroes went out of bolts and other Bolt Throwers were shooting their last. Cannons went out of bullets, Grudge Throwers went out of rocks, and Malakai Makaison’s Goblin Hewer was broken, when Rat Ogre threw rock on it. Dwarfs were very out of superiority.
But Dwarfs fought with all power and all chances. Rat Ogres fought through Warriors, Slayers, Longbeards Hammerers, and Ironbreakers. Skaven flood had spread to Dwarf Thunderer and Cross Bow lines.
Then the roof of the cave started to quake. Somebody or something had landed on the cave. Cave couldn’t carry the weight of this creature.
Roof of the cave broke down and many, many Dwarfs and Skaven remained under it. Only the lucky ones survived. Echo of collapsing went trough whole cave. Then after that big echo entire cave was full of silence.
In the cave had landed a Dragon. Dragon was blue and it was filled with horns and it was carrying rider. It wasn’t that big. It had only size of two Rat Ogres.
Bravest Rat Ogres started to wrestle with it. They gripped from its head-horns and tried to break its neck, by twisting its head. Others threw it by rock.
It raised its head, shook it and Rat Ogres flew around the cave, screaming and yelling.
Skaven were battling with the dragon, but did Dragon want to fight? Skaven didn’t realize it. Every Rat Ogre witch attacked it, died. But Dwarfs were smart and they were ready to listen to the rider.
Every Skaven had died to their foolishness. Their bodies were lying on the battleground. When all of them had died, rider got down from the dragon. Rider was female High Elf. Dwarfs remembered: mistrust the Elf, and you can do no wrong. All they need to do: don’t trust her.
“That Dragon, is it Yak?” Nobey asked when he stepped out from line. Mistrust the Elf.
“No.” High Elf was relaxed and looked domineering type.
“Where is it then?” Elf pointed to deeper cave. Dragon wasn’t landed to that place where she pointed and that part of cave was entire. There was that big monster witch Bolt Throwers had shoot. Monster still didn’t move. Nobey walked there.
It wasn’t monster, it was statue, statue appeared to be Dragon.
Here rests legendary dragon Yak, She died in year 640, in war of Yak Breatra. Nobey was confused. Mistrust the Elf, but still he got strange feeling inside him. Was this Yak Breatra? It was its grave. It was buried to there. High Elf woman came to him.
“I don’t believe you! Yak was the reason why Dwarfs loss the War of Yak Breatra!” Nobey gripped his Dwarf handgun and he was ready to kill the High Elf woman. High Elf was strongly puzzled, and then she asked:
“Where did you hear that? Where did you hear that Dwarfs lose the war of Yak Breatra?”
“I don’t even tell you! You’ll always make some lie from anything!”
“Elf didn’t win the War of Yak Breatra. Dwarf won.” High Elf woman saw strange look with Nobey’s eyes. She took her shield and sword. Nobey did shoot two shoots to High Elf, but she covered herself with her shield. Nobey held with his left hand the Dwarf Handgun and his right hand was holding long axe.
Elf didn’t seem to attack, mostly she was defending herself. She was agile, but generally she used her shield and sword to block Nobey’s strikes.
When Elf blocked, Nobey’s attack was so strong that her block did break down for a moment, but soon it was together again. Nobey used that weakness and when he stroked the defence down, he did shoot with his handgun right to arm of Elf. Elf collapsed down, shouting, and Nobey stepped on her and raised his axe. Shot had hit to arm and cut wasn’t bad.
“Do you… know who I am?” Nobey kept his axe right front of her eyes.
“Well, I will listen one more lie before killing you…”
“My name is Neriskahn… Neriskahn Breatra… Breatra.” Nobey didn’t change him mind about doom of the Elf. “Dwarf won the War of Yak Breatra, Yak died on that war and I got new dragon.”
“Why the dragon is buried here?” Nobey laughed.
“Because here it died. It died in war of Yak Breatra. The War of Yak Breatra had fought here.” That made sense. Nobey let her continue. “What is you name, Dwarf?”
“My name is Nobey Malugaond.”
“Who are you father? Is it Jammorn Lorearthen?” The feeling what came over Nobey cannot ever experience. The feel of anger, puzzle, confusion… “I can see… it is.”
“How do you know him? Why are you here?” Neriskahn Breatra smiled softly.
“I came here to look you father. I thought that he might be here. At war against Skaven.”
“Why he would be war against Skaven?”
“He lived in Karak Izor most of his life. This war was big and your father used to get to big battles.”
“You’re liar!” Nobey laughed, and ashamed that in Old World is that kind of deceivers and liars. “My father died two years ago. And don’t try to act like you are puzzled!”
“He is dead?”
“What do you care about him?”
“I haven’t seen him for a long time…”
“He was you friend? Don’t lie to me, Elf! What about War of Yak Breatra, why should I believe you anyway?”
“Simple, you can’t. But let me tell you. Dwarfs won the war.”
“Did you know Jammorn?”
“Yes I did.”
“This doesn’t mean that I trust you, but he sent me a letter. It said that in this cave is Yak. He ordered me to kill Yak and Neriskahn Breatra. Why he sent me to kill you if he was your friend?”
“I wasn’t here when you came. He knew that you can’t kill me when I’m not reachable.”
“Why he wanted to kill a dragon witch was already died, Elf?!”
“Perhaps you noticed all these Skaven. I’m going to tell you a story.
I was just little teenager Elf when he came to our camp. He asked for food, he had got lost. And for a hazard, he and whole High Elf camp befriended. He was good friend of ours. We told our secrets and problems. One day he had to leave. He promised our one thing. ‘I’ll see you again some day’. Then came a message, High Elves were attacking to Karak Izor, because Karak Izor’s army was growing to great readouts and it was dangerous to camp witch was near here. We heard also message that Jammorn Lorearthen was gone to Karak Izor.
We sent one of our Elves to sneak to the town and retrieve Jammorn and tell him that we can hire him to a Dog of War mercenary.
He accepted. Do you remember in that message this: Dwarfs were handling the war, but then came the Yak and its rider Breatra? Your father claims that I came, but I was in that war all time. No, I didn’t come, Jammorn Lorearthen came, and he started to kill his own men. But dwarfs were so strong, they still won. Jammorn ran to the mountains, escaped. Then he bruised his face and nobody recognized him. Then he went to Karaz-a-Karak and lived his life, like nothing was happened.
He was in afraid that you would find the truth out and reveal him and his spirit would live in shame… forever. In beginning he was relaxed and had forgotten it and he told the truth about the war of Yak Breatra, ‘Dwarfs won the battle’. But then something reminded him and he came to fear that you could find it out. Then he just claimed that High Elves won the battle.
He claimed that in this cave is Yak. Bu here wasn’t Yak. But here was Skaven.
It was a trap! He wanted to kill you. That you would die on Skaven blade and nobody ever knew the truth. You were lucky when commander Gargudal came. You’re lucky to be are alive!”
“No! You’re lying!” Nobey did tighten the hold of his axe and he smashed it to Breatra’s stomach. Last words he heard:
“Do you really think that all this has made just because I would lie to you?”
Mistrust the Elf.
Nobey was at his father’s grave.
Commander, Grottt, Ianhorn all good friends died on that war. He was alone now. All because father Dog of War lured the Skaven in to the cave!
“Why?” Nobey took his axe and smashed it to the grave. Ten hits and grave was garbage. Its remains were just rock at the graveyard. “Why? Why my father? Is it infectious?” Is it hereditary? To believe the Elf? Just like Nobey believed. Yes, it is infectious. Nobey would live his life with shame; he would do all un-dwarven, things all uncivilized tings, and worst of them:
Trusting the Elf.
