Hi all.

I guess I´m posting in the wrong forumarea. Sorry for that but my finnish are... Hmm, limited
to say the least... (Moderators, Please move the topic to the right area.)

Anyway, I recently moved to Helsinki and look to continue my hobby 40k. The problem is that I
don´t know anyone playing gw-games here and when asking about gaming clubs at the local
gw-store I learned that clubs are unheard of here. So what should I do?

If anyone wants to play some 40k or have any advice to give it would be greatly appreciated.

well in the GW store you can't play big games and the tables are open only for a limited time. I would recommend you to search for players from this site and play with them in "Lohikäärmeenluola" (that's the playing room in Fantasiapelit). I could probably play with you some games when I've get some free time.

If by gaming club you mean a regular get-together (I've a hunch it's a fuzzy term internationally) then there definitely are some, only you need to know some people or be very alert because they don't advertise themselves properly (or at all) and never in another language than Finnish. Good luck to the hunt in any case and welcome to the country...

Tournaments are a good way to get games with great people, I strongly suggest you attend some.

Yup, that´s one of the downsides to play in the gw-store. That Fantasiapelit sounds interesting though. I´ll check
it out.

There are no tournaments of 40k in a few months, at least any I know about. Helsinki Fanatic 3 is coming, and it has a 40k tournament in addition to FB and Lotr. To know more about it, I recommend you to check this area of the Forum(Turnaukset ja Pelikaverit) often.

First of all, you shouldn't fret too much over finding opponents that play 40k. Most of them even manage well enough in english. There's a big 40k scene here and there are many players in the capital area.

Now, the only problem might be with the age group you're aiming. If you're looking for more seasoned opponents (agewise), then due to time constraints they might be harder to find, but not really to be a bother.

So as an advice, post a bit about yourself - things like your age, how long you have been playing and what armies do you play (and how much of them are painted). If you have any specific wishes from your opponents, you should post them too.

So here we go. 40k contact ad part II:

Age: 35

Experience: I started playing during the rogue trader era, then missed 2nd ed completely due to
other interests at the time (partying and girls). Resumed gaming during third edition and I have
been playing as much as possible since then. I´ve attended a couple of tournaments (with various
results... ) but the most of my gaming has taken place at my old club that had between
10-15 veteran 40k-players in attendance every official day.

Armies: I have around 2300p of fully painted Death Guard and I´m right now doing a bit of
tweaking due to the new codex. In the early days I played a Black legion force but that one is now
retired. It consisted of only classic miniatures and they didn´t mix too well with the new ones.

Requests: I very rarely use any unpainted miniatures and expect my opponents to have the same
attitude. Other than that I don´t really have any requests.

I´ve heard good things about those games but haven´t tried them out. Maybe I should but as always,
too many games, too little time...

or i might be as bold as to suggest looking for Warmachine/Hordes, for even more better games.
but as it stands, i'd be interested in tackling a truly veteran gamer, so why not...

In the book you will find the name and the phone number of the players and what armys they have and how matsh points of what they have. You shod go to the store and ask for the book and start caling peaple are they interested in a game. Sorry my English is not the best in this world but i hape you got the point.

In the book you will find the name and the phone number of the players and what armies they have/how much points they have. You should go to the store and ask for the book and start calling people if are they interested in a game.
