Pre Battle Turn 1

Orcs won roll and set the Blitz objective a little east from the road. Humans put their in west of river. The other objectives on Human end was near the roads in east while in Orc end they were near road in east and west of river.

The pre battle moves were then marked and depth 4 formations entered into game. Only Orcs had them and they moved forwards. Shock troops of Battlegroup 4 on helicopters moved to other end taking positions in the forest. In east the Battlegroup 3 Moved around the road forwards. In west the Battlegroup 1 moved towards their target. Note that the arrows the pre battle plans [I should have really taken a picture before anything was set up on board to show this, but forgot so added them to pic I had after first pre battle turn].

Pre Battle Turn 2

Three of the Humans formations appeared this turn while last of Orcs appeared as well. Two of the humans battlegroups had to divert their approaches as enemy was near. So Battlegroup 1 went to other side of river while Battlegroup 2 swept around the forest. [I didn't take into account in rules the possibility that enemy is near ones table edge where the groups should enter. We decided to move the start point just out of the 30cm sphere to nearest point and then move the formations a) into table, b) sensible place and on the 30cm edge of nearest formation.] Since XR-5 Scouts were in front of BG1, they did not get an ST while Orc Shock Troops 1 did. Infantry Company 1 on BG2 did as did Orc Shock Troops 2. Other Battlegroups moved according to their own orders and did not encounter enemy.

Thus the battle starts.

Turn 1

As the Humans moved into contact with Orcs, the Orcs win automatically the first turn.

Orders for the second turn are given and game starts.

Initiative: Orcs

The Orcs start with a dash from the Orc Infantry 1 in west. They move near the MBT Is and Open fire at the Recon. The IFV cannons, LAVs and assault rifles destroy all light Recon units wiping the formation out. Keeping the initiative the Goblin Infantry 2 in east advances forwards taking up positions in the buildings with two units staying within the APCs to use the machine guns on them. They open fire at the Human Infantry 1 dropping 3 infantry units.

Humans react with MBT IIs advancing them forwards from protecting the Infantry behind them and targets the Gunwagons. The light vehicles are unable avoid being wiped out by the tanks. Keeping the initiative the Infantry 2 tries to advance as per orders, but fail even with supreme commanders help and are commanded locally instead. They open up with their weapons dropping 2 APCs killing a unit inside of one of them from Goblin Infantry 2. This prompts the Shock Troops 2 to advance around the forest and target the Infantry 2, killing one regular unit and one ATGM unit.

The humans Trident attack helicopters are called in to provide some air cover, but they respond with negative as they are avoiding enemy aircraft.

The Buggy section 1 in east goes next. They have dash and they move to the east targeting Special Forces 1, but only manage to give 3 STs.

In west the Humans Infantry 2 have orders to dash ahead and they swing around the tanks in front of them getting the Artillery in their sights. None of the Orcs survive the torrent of fire from IFVs.

In east the Goblin Mortars reveal sustained fire and target the Human Infantry 2. Two units are killed in the barrage and the formation breaks moving behind the Special Forces formation.

Humans call in the Attack Aircraft which makes a strike run against the Shock Troops 1 giving them bunch of STs and only damage to one of the helicopters. In centre the Buggy section 2 dashes and takes up positions on the hill.

In west the MBT Is decide to get the hammer out and advance forwards firing on the Orc Infantry before them. Catching them in crossfire against the Infantry 2, they destroy all IFVs and 2 Infantry units breaking the formation which moves back taking up positions near the bridges. The Goblin MBTs react to this with dash bringing them to hill and on the other side of the tracks. They target the Human Infantry company 2 and blow up 4 IFVs.

Human decide that this is the time to bring in more special forces and transport aircraft flies high over the field. Moving to the north-east corner, it drops the paratroopers in form of Special Forces 2. Orcs decide to do the same, but the heavy transport helicopter seems to have problems in getting into air.

Humans then finally get the Artillery into play and the Artillery company moves in to the south west corner of the table parking their heavy launchers behind forest. Orc Grond-34 Attack Helicopters also have problems and they fail to activate. [We forgot to bring them into table as well.] Then more artillery moves in from humans and Mortars quickly drive to take up positions behind the MBT Is.

Then it is Orcs Attack Aircraft which are scrambled against the Special Forces 1 in the south-east corner as the air protection in the Infantry company is inoperable. The aircraft show deadly accuracy and 4 IFVs are blown up during the attack run. The Special Forces then try to consolidate, but fail and break instead taking cover in the forest nearby.

Lastly the Shock Troops 1 repositions themselves and Goblin Infantry dashes to take up positions in the forest against the paratroopers which are coming down.

End Phase

Rally fails: I forgot to write the rallies, but I failed to rally the Infantry company 1 and Special Forces 1 at least.

Turn 2

The Paratroops land a bit north west from their original point and take one ST on the process.

Initiative: Humans

The Artillery Company opens up with a sustain fire with the little help from the supreme commander. All target the Goblins firing a spread barrage to cause maximum effect. The Mortars take 3 STs and Infantry loses 4 units as well as the AA buggy. Keeping the initiative, the Special Forces 2 try to engage, but they get too tangled to their chutes move in that they fire a bit instead giving 3 STs more to the Infantry.

In centre the Goblin MBTs advance forwards and fire on the Infantry 2. Two more IFVs and 4 Infantry are gunned down and they break moving towards the forest in north west.

Humans trying to prevent the their entire left flank from total collapse order the Trident Helicopters to move there. The helicopters take positions behind a forest and target the Shock Troops 2 dropping one enemy helicopter and 4 Shock Infantry breaking the formation. They withdraw north east taking up positions in the apartment block. In east the Goblin Mortars go next in an attempt to sustain, but fail and break withdrawing towards west away from the Shock Troops.

In centre the Human Mortars open up targeting the Orc Infantry 1 in the open. The firing is accurate and most of the enemy is killed while the rest scatter in panic causing the entire formation to disintegrate. The Orcs move in to prevent the enemy from entering the bridges as Shock Troops 1 move with Helicopters to the river banks firing at the MBT Is. The defensive fire from the AA tank manages to make a point of damage wrecking damaged helicopter. Only 2 STs are done against the heavy armour of tanks.

In centre the Human MBT IIs advance eastwards to support the situation there. They take up positions on the large hill and target Goblin MBTs, but fail to penetrate the heavy armour on them only giving 2 STs.

In east the Goblin Buggy 1 advance part of their formation forwards allowing the Strike Buggies to open fire on Infantry 1. 2 APCs, ATGM Infantry and regular Infantry units are lost to the enemy fire and confusion. To prevent the Strike Buggies in centre, the Human Aircraft make an attack run against Buggy section 2 wrecking 3 Strike Buggies and breaking the formation. They withdraw near the forest in north. In north east the Goblin Infantry 1 attempts to advance, but hold instead removing some of their STs.

In centre the MBT Is advance again this time targeting the Orc Shock Troops 1. The remaining helicopter is quickly shot down and 1 Shock Infantry killed as well. Rest break and withdraw to occupy the bridges.

The it is only Orcs and Goblins. First the Goblin Infantry 2 advances firing into forest killing 2 Special Forces infantry. Then the Grond-34 Attack Helicopters finally arrive and move behind MBT IIs to fire on them. Defensive flak downs one of the helicopters while they knock out AA tank in return. Then the Attack Fighters make their move as the flak in west is partially lost targeting the Artillery company. 4 of the MRLs are knocked out and the formation breaks. Finally the Transport Helicopter moves in landing Orc Infantry 2 in the forest near the Human Mortars.

End Phase

Rally fails: All I remember was that none of my broken formations rallied.

Turn 3

Initiative: Humans

Mortars start the turn with sustain fire, which once more requires supreme commander. They target the Orc Infantry 2 in the forest killing 2 Infantry and 2 Machine Gun Infantry units and breaking the formation. Keeping the initiative the Special Infantry engages the Goblin Infantry in assault killing all but 2 Infantry, ATGM Infantry and 3 APCs without any losses. South from them the Buggy section 2 advances to take pot shots at the intermingled Infantry 1 and Tridents. Helicopters get 2 STs while Infantry loses 2 regular units, 1 ATGM unit and 3 APCs.

The Humans call in their aircraft, but they report engine problems and stand down instead. Instead the Goblin Infantry 2 dashes forwards spreading out the APCs and firing on the Special Forces but only manages to kill one unit.

In centre the MBT Is advance forwards wiping out the remaining Shock Troops 2 on the bridge while the AA Tank shoots down a helicopter from the broken Orc Grond-34 formation and wipes it out. Shock Troops 1 in east dash and move north on the blitz and fire at the Special Forces, killing 1 unit.

After this I have no notes on what happened in the end. However MBT IIs and Tridents failed to activate and Buggy section 1 moved to take control the two currently unheld objectives.

This lead to 0 - 2 win for Orcs with ]Take and Hold and Hold the Line.
