Fashionably late, as I always am, here is the top moments from the yesterday's game that featured two of the most hated and evil creatures the whole Old World has to offer. Not trusted by even their own fellow men, the Skave and the Dark Elves.
Rathorde's Fitnessschool and Snake Eye Surprise fought in a slightly one sided match that still offered much entertainment and devilishly bad luck for both players. Not to mentio that there were 32000 spectators present who just kept getting wilder and wilder, inspiring both teams to new stunts, until a full riot took place on the second half.
But no matter how much the crowd cheered, they could not save both sides from the Horned One's luck. The RF began their play with all too familiar ball play. Ending the first turn with thrower of all people dropping the ball to his feet. Which was only followed by witch elf falling face forward next to him with double 1s. Not that the luck kept getting any better from there with another elf taking soon to the ground by himself, more ball fumbling from the skaven, which really went from annoying to silly when thrower failed to pass the ball again (to a gutter runner right next to him), which only left the ball scattering two steps away from the intented target and followed by it bouncing from one clumsy skave to another until it really did end up to the gutter runner, who was supposed to get it even in the first place. Didn't save the turn however.
The first fourth of the match also saw unfortuned (for the elves) and fortuned (for the skaven) death of one of the elven players in the hands of the ratogre. Which ended up the only good thing the ogre managed to do in the whole game. Unless counting it a good thing for the elves that the ratogre managed to burn four to five re-rolls (from which he did accept three, kudos) and caused more misery than he was worth.
Followed by the stumpling around of the skaven, the dark elves soon proved that while skaven might be fast, they are far from the most agile team in bloodbowl. Running where they wanted and playing the ball however the pleased, the dark elves even bounced over the skaven blockades and tipped the poor skaven in to the audience, who were surprisingly soft handed with the players. All in all the better ball play managed to score the dark elves four touchdowns and even four casualties on the skaven team, from which two would have been even lethal, was it not thanks to skaven teams own healer and at the last moment hired wandering apochery. Still one linerat walked away with smashed ankle, but he lived to see another day.
On the very last rounds of the game, the skaven once again moved to make a desperate last moment goal, so they wouldn't be eaten back in the Under-Empire. But in the end it was more the grace of the elven coach (and his bloodlust after the ratogres hide, who despite being face by six dark elves kicking him, didn't think much of it) that the skaven finally had a free reign to score at least one goal.
So in the end the score was 4-1 for the Snake Eye Surprise and casualties were 1-4 much for the lament of the Rathorde's Fitnessschool.

Yesterday Chaquan Skitterers met again the Brotherhood of Mercy, this time in the semifinals. The teams were now almost of equal value, as the strongman thrower of the Brotherhood couldn't make it to the game, and the skitterers had recruited an kroxigor. The difference still allowed to add a magic trinket for one of the skinks, the Belt of Invulnerability.
The lizards started the first offence. The start was somewhat slow and stumbling. Kroxigor managed to smash heads with the ogre, and while the ogre had a helmet, kroxigor didn't. The ogre lied in the pitch stunned, but the big lizard almost died - the apochary just barely managed to save him. Not too great a start for the krox, but at least it was a spectacle! Remember to wear you helmets, kids! The sauruses and skinks quickly scrambled to the offence, and while the lizards managed to punch a fast attack through the human lines, they burned most of their rerolls right in the beginning. In the third round, the running touchdown was scored, and it was Brotherhood's time to attack. Slowly they hammered their way through the defence, and they managed to make a well-planned attack through the left side. In the end only a handful of skinks stand in the way, while the sauruses were away or lied down flattened. The Brotherhood scored, and left a few turns for the lizardmen. The ball changed hands quickly in those few turns, as the ball-carrying skink was first left exposed because of the stumbling saurus. A blizer quickly took the skink down, and grabbed the ball. A frenzying saurus managed to smash in the thick formation that defended the blizer with the ball, and the blizer fell off the pitch. Ball was then thrown across the pitch, to the waiting skinks. They managed to grab the ball and run for the endline. But one of the Brotherhood blizers more or less repeated what had happened in the other side, and took the skink down. At that time the whisle ended the first half.
The second half begun with the human attack. The ball was quickly secured in the middle of the field, while the lizards run like a wind to the flanks and rear of the attack formation. One saurus rushed in the formation, was beaten down, but with the help of the other lizards managed to grab the ball-carrier and take him to the ground. Ball was still in the feet of the humans, but a lucky skink managed to dive in, grab the ball and run away. Quickly the remaining sauruses and skinks formed a right-side defence for the ball, and after a few moments a touchdown was scored.
The brotherhood started again, and pushed slowly to the end line. The crowd started to cheer wildly, as the game got rough. The fist half saw no casualties after the fist crash, but in the second half the Brotherhood managed to injure severely a saurus, and the skinks beat up a runner that was hanging around in the lizard end. At the last second, the Brotherhood pushed back the last defences and made their second touchdown.
So the game went to the overtime, and the coin was thrown again. The lizard won this throw, too, and started their attack.
The Skitterers had a rough and slow beginning in the game, but slowly built up speed during the second half. They had plenty of rerolls left, and the cheering crowd helped them forward. The human team, on the other hand, had been pushed to its limits in the final rush, and they were exhausted. The Skitterers gave their standard performance, and made an side attack. The Brotherhood run bravely to the defence, but a single stumbled block broke a clever plan to smash the ball carrier. And so the running skink, with the help of some bashing sauruses, was able to make the winning thouchdown.
In the end, the very even game ended 3-2, and casualties 1-2. Neither the frenzying saurus nor the kroxigor will be seen in the gold match...

Most excellent report from equally excellent game. Hope to see soon who's gonna be against Brotherhood of Mercy in a bronze match.

Even quite heavily damaged, Snake Eye Surprise managed to win the final pretty easily with the final score of 2-1. Casualties to the dark elves 2-0. Congratulations for the winner!

Congratulations for the winner. Snake eyes surprise really deserved it. Horrible team, and that is a compliment for dark elves. We will still play the bronze match with Perttu on Friday.
