40k: Dark Eldar vs. Imperial Guard 700p - EoT campaign

Viesti Kirjoittaja AndreasH »

-Dracon (Power weapon, Combat Drugs, ShadowField, Splinter pistol)

-Raider squad (9 Warriors (one with Blaster) and one Sybarite with an
Agonizer) Raider with Dark Lance ja Horrofex

-Raider squad (8 Warriors (one with Blaster) and Sybarite with an
Agonizer) Raider with Dark Lance ja Horrofex - joined by Dracon

-Warrior squad (10 warriors, two with Dark Lance)

-Reaver Jetbike squad (5 bikes, two with Blaster and Sucubbus with Power Weapon)

Na'Sekh sat atop her dais as her personal Raider zoomed silently through the landscape. Like a breeze in the summer but cold, her force was a sight of elegance and terror. The everchanging landscape was a sight to behold, vast valleys and mountains covered Hell Sinai. It was beauty, in a very pure form. Even Na'Sekh, as twisted and calculating as any Dark Eldar, true Eldar, could be, admitted this. But this wasn't her goal...the hive city known as Cancer Prima was to fall. She hoped to meet resistance, and she expected it. However, as was fitting, she had the momentum of suprise on her side. She would strike into the heart of the defences...without mercy. She was like the lightning itself... fast, beautifull...terrible. She looked to the sky...she would have no rivals today.

At the same time outside of Cancer Prima a loosely formed platoon of the Imperial Guard were on duty. It was a warm day and the men where cheerfull, only Lieutnant Köykkä seemed nervous. He knew fully well, as any experienced Imperial Guard officier, that the enemy strikes when least expected. On top of this, the Leman Russ assigned to them had not yet returned from repair...It was a vital piece in the defence of the human settlement, and Köykkä disliked having holes in his armour.

Only scant moments before reaching the defenders Na'Sekhs personal Sybarite Aonethinh arrived by her dais.
-Lady, we have recieved the reports on the enemy. Our scouts returned from the recon, the defences are, as you expected, partially down.
-Excellent, present me with the list. I'm eager to see the names of my playthings.

-HQ Including Powerfist Lieutnant and Death World veterans (one with Flamer) all mounted in Chimera
-10 Men including Sergeant and Heavy Bolter
-10 Men including Sergeant and Multi Laser
-10 Men including Sergeant and Autocannon
- 6 Ratling Snipers
- Leman Russ (on it's way from within the Hive City)

----------------------------------
The battle commenced under Na'Sekhs command as the mission played was Slave Raid. Slave Raid requires the defender (the non-DE player) to deploy more than 12" from any table edge and the units have to be deployed atleast 6" away from each other. After that the Dark Eldar rolls the scatterdice and deploys within a 6" radius from the point on the table edge that the scatter dice points to. Lieutnant Köykkäs troops where deployed pretty near the middle closer to the south, with an exception for the Ratlings that deployed to the north-east in a building. The Leman Russ stayed in reserve.

Everyone held their breath as the scatterdice was rolled. The Dark Eldar would attack from...the SOUTH ( a point almost in the middle)!

I got to deploy my troops in the most delicious way a Dark Eldar player can imagine. Which unit charges which unit? Dracon Na'Sekh could just laugh at the puny Mon-Keigh that where taken by complete suprise. The
Cold One unit (Reaver Jetbikes) headed for the warriors to the right, the Raidersquad accompanied by Na'Sekh headed straight forward and the last Raidersquad took to the left. The Dark Lance squad stayed in the deployment zone.

All of his units (except the retinue inside of his Chimera was within assault range after the troops had made their initial movements. Shrewd as Na'Sekh is, she commanded her Raider to block the exit of the IG commands Chimera as the Dark Lances where pointed at the crude machine. A total of 4 Lances and 2 Blasters where directed at the thing. Needless to say, the vehicle was destroyed. But the will of the gods
is fickle and the Emperor stayed with his children in this moment of utter despair, I threw a 5 on the penetrating hit chart and the Chimera boun-ced 5 inches to the left and all the passangeres roamed out from the
burning transport vehicle unharmed Well, fortunetly, the last Raider had not fired. The Raiders where equipped with Terrofices and now was the perfect moment to unleash a hail of pinning-causing nightmarish visions. The Terrofex hit home and the template covered 4 brave defenders of humanity, meaning that the pinningtest would need to be taken with a -3 to the ld. The HQ failed the test and would sit around doing nothing the next turn. Meanwhile the assault phase was very sucessfull for the DE. All of the combats where won and the left-most squad turned tails and tried to flee...and successfully out-run the DE that followed closely behind. The unit could not re-group the next turn however as the DE where right behind them.

The IG player could not do much in his first turn but to shoot his snipers (killing one warrior in my Dark Lance squad and pinning the unit). In the assault phase my Dark Eldar continued pounding the IG. The Reaver Jetbikes still struggled, but the Raidersquad finished almost all of their opponents. The Dracon prooved to be too much for the puny manlings and their squad was compleatly annihilated.

My Second turn saw my first Raidersquad seeking cover as there wasn't anything left to assault. The IG HQ was handled by my Dracon&Co. His Ratlings wouldn't fire the next turn as two Raiders made sure that they where pinned (thank you Terrofices!)). In the assaultphase his HQ was sorely outnumbered by superior warriors but still fought on valiantly. Everyone but his leader, a Lieutnant, where slain. His Lieutnant promptly tried to run, but to no avail.

His second turn his Leman Russ rumble onto the field. As the behemoth of a construct (atleast by shoe-box Eldar standards) had moved it couldn't use it's, rightfully, feared Battlecannon. Instead it fired a Lascannon at a Raider but failed to hit. In the Assault phase my Cold One riders made the IG flee and decided not to pursuit as the unit was below
half strength and could not regroup anymore. His Lieutnant was also inevitably killed by the Dark Eldar.

The Dark Eldar pointed all of their guns at the utmost frightening thing known as a Leman Russ. The Dark Lance wielding Warriors prooved their worth and gunned down the tank. The Cold One Raiders headed for the Ratling Snipers and paused on the way to kill the two fleeing IG for the sake of it as they count as bikes and can fire at and assault different targets. In the following close combat the Ratlings where broken and they fled, being below half-strength they where unable to re-group.

The game ended here, as there was no third turn for the IG player with all of his troops dead or fleeing. One Dark Eldar had been killed.

Na'Sekh clapped her hands, this was a tale worth telling. The Mon-Keigh had been taken by suprise, and they had paid the price. She had danced amongst the barbarians, dealing fatal wounds to her left and to her right. She had felt like a goddess, she felt alive. She uttered a silent prayer to the spirits of her homeworld. She had performed well enough today. She turned towards Aonethinh.
-Have you searched the enemy? Where there many worth taking?
-Yes mistress, you have a skilled household. Aonethinh paused for a moment before continuing. 21 have been captured, along with a stubborn, bull-necked Mon-Keigh officier. Na'Sekh closed her eyes, the moments following the battle where the most satisfying. She rose from her dais and walked forth.
-Then bring me this animal you speek of to me. I am sure that he will find our meeting to be...exciting and invigorating...from my point of view.
