On this weekend, there was a tourney in my town, and as you can guess. Here's how it went. There were 16 players and each played five games. Armies were given painting points from 1-10 and from each game the opponent could give one fairplay point if he wishes. I got 6 painting points and got a fairplay point from each game I played.

Game1
My first game was a pitched battle against another empire player. He had a unit of 19 spearmen with detachment of 10 FC, 20 halberdiers with 2 detachments of 8 Swordsmen, 16 Handgunners with marksman with repeater handgun, 12 greatswords, 8 knights, mounted mage, mounted Bsb, warrior priest on foot, elector count on griffon, 2 cannons and a helblaster. The battlefield was a village and a wood in the middle in the left, a hill in the middle of the field, a hill on my deployment zone and a wood his on the right. He deployed from my left to right like this knights with bsb, handgunners, griffon, wizard, cannon, spearmen with WP, halberdiers, cannon, helblaster and greatswords. I deployed from left to right knights, helblaster, swordsmen with EC, Spearmen, handgunners, warmachines on hill and white wolves. My other characters deployed behinf my line. In the game I got the first turn and moved my both knights little forwardm, my pegasus so that he could charge the helblaster and my shooters shot a couple of his troops. My cannonball went a little too far, missing the griffon. In his turn he moved his knights a little and his griffon so that he could get a rear charge against my knights nd the mage moved into cover behind a hedge at the village. His shooting did little damage on me and his helblaster misfired and couldn't fire this turn.
On my turn my knights rolled a 10 for terror and ran off the table. My pegasus charged the helblaster and my white wolves charged the greatswords. I shot one of his cannons with my own cannon and annihilated the griffon and it's rider with my helblaster (22 hits! ouch!). my other shooting did very little damage. My pegasus killed the blaster and my knights killed most of the greatswords. In his turn he moved his knights a little bit more. His shooting killed a couple of my guys. In combat I managed to break the greatswords and ran them down. Now my right flank was ready to make a flank attack against him. In my turn I just shot a couple of his troops and one cannon and my helblaster killed 6 knights. In his turn he realised that he was forced to come at my army to win. He started moving his army forward. His shooting was out of range.
In my turn I started to move my knights to attack his rear and the captain went to hunt the handgunners. My cannon misfired and couldn't shoot as did my helblaster. My mortar got a direct hit at his spearmen and killed 8. In his turn he charged the helblaster with his knights. i fled and they were out of range. His shooting was ineffective. My swordmen prepared to take the charge of his knights. My white wolves moved to charge his halbers at the rear in the next turn and my pegasus charged the handgunners in the flank. With shooting i killed a couple of halberds and weakened all his detachments to US4. My cannon misfired again. I also managed to shoot the wizard. My pegasus rider killed a couple of handgunners but the combat was draw. In his turn he charged my swordsmen with his knights and moved his spears to charge my spears in the next turn. He lost the combat with his knights but holded. My pegasus rider killed only one gunner, broke and ran off the table. On my last turn I charged his halberdiers on the rear with my wolves who broke and got caught. My shooting weakened hios troops a little. His knights broke and got caught. His last turn he charged my spearmen and their detachment charged my flank but there were only 4 of them. My detachment of 12 FC charged their flank.I won the combat and caught the spearmen. The game was a massacre victory for me. Yippee!
Game2
My second game was a breakthrough against DE. The battlefield was scattered stones/ruins on left at my side and a small hill on the right. i his side there was a small hill on the left and a large hill on the right. In the middle was a wood. He had 30 spearmen, 20 witch elves, 24 rcb-men in two units, 8 dark riders, 3 units of 6 shades, highborn on foot, noble on foot, lvl2 sorceress on foot and a cauldron of blood. his deployment was from left to right: spearmen with highborn and noble in left on the back and witch elves in front of them, rcb-men with sorc in the middle, caulron behind them and dark riders in the right. one unit of shades was behind the hill in his deployment zone, one in the wood and one behind the big hill. My deployment was from left to right: knights, spearmen ,swordsmen with EC, helblaster, handguns in the front of my other infantry hoping to shoot enough of the elves to prevent them from coming to my deployment zone. WW were deployed in the right and the hill in the far right contained my warmachines. My other characters went once again behind my troops.
He got the first turn and moved his army a little bit. His darkriders moved so that they could charge my warmachines next turn. e then shot 7 handgunners and one of the mortar crew. On my turn I moved my knights and my WW to prevent the DR from charging my warmachines. My pegasus rider moved to be ready to charge his sorceress. My shooting killed 10 crossbowmen.
In his turn he moved around my WW to charge my warmachines with his DR. His witches charged the knights and had the banner of murder and they reached my knights. Sorc left the crossbows and joined spearmen His shooting killed even more gunners and only one unit was left anymore. He shot another mortar crew. My knights broke and I rolled 17 for fleeing and ran off the table. On my turn I moved my detachment to draw the withch elves charge from my swords and my pegasus charged the spearmen so that I could kill the sorc. My halblaster killed thew shades in the wood but exploded, my gunners shot two crossbowmen and the cannons grapeshot killed 3 DR. I killed the sorc with my pegasus rider but broke and fled 4! I got caught as you think.
His witches charged my detachment, the DR charged my cannon and spearmen prepared to charge my spears. His shooting killed a couple of my swordmen. He won the cannon and overran to my mortar and my detachment got destroyed. His witches ran off the table. In my turn I prepared to take the charge with my spears and turned my swords to flank charge him on my turn. I also moved my detachment to protect my sworsmen flanks from his DR. He killed my mortar crew and overran into front of my FC.
On his turn he charged my spears with his spears aand turned his DR to charge my FC on his next turn. His shooting killed a ouple of swords again. My spearmen broke and got caught. On my turn I started to move my WW to his deployment zone as I realised that they can't make it in time to help my losing swordsmen. My swords prepared to take the charge of his spears. I killed a couple of rcb-men with gunners.
He charged my swords who holded and my FC with his DR. His shooting was ineffective. His Dr lost the combat but holded and my swordman champion died in a challenge with his highborn. I lost the combat but holded because of Rod of Command. On my turn my WW moved close to his deployment zone. my shooting didn't kill a single model and I lost both combats and all my units were caught. This also paniced the two wizards behinbd my line who ran off the table.
His last turn he charged my gunners with his Dr. I fled and got away. He moved all his other units to my deployment zone. On my last turn my gunners rallied and my WW moved into his deployment zone. It was a massacre loss for me , but I think it was a little bit of luck, like the pagasus fleeing 4" and he getting the first turn. As you know with two armies with lots of shooting, the one who gets the first turn has better chance to win as he gets more shooting off.
Game3
Now it was a pitched battle against O&G. He had 20 boyz with spears&shields, 20 biguns with same equipment, 20 black orcs with two weapons&shields, 45 nightgobbos with spears&shields, couple of netters and 3 fantics, 4 wolf chariots, giant, orc lord, nightgobbo bsb, nightgobbo hero and a savage orc shaman. The table was the same as game1. He deployed two chariot in the left and two in the right. Other in the middle in the following order: Biguns, nightgobbos with both nightgobbo heroes, blackorcs with lord, giant and orcs with shaman. I deployed from left to right like following: WW, helblaster, spearmen, swordmen with EC, handgunners, warmachines on hill, knights. My other characters were behind my troops as normal.
I got the first turn. I moved my knights forward as I knew that I wont get a charge at his chariots. I just hoped. My archers moved forward towars the NG. My shooting killed a couple of orcs and my cannon got 2 wounds at his giant. On his turn he moved his army forward and charget each my knight units with two chariots. My knights on the right suffered 5 impacts of which 2 killed a knight. They won the chariots and they broke but only one got caught. on the other flank my WW suffered 9 impacts but they only killed 2! I thought I will win, but the wolves killed another 2 knights! I lost the combat and got ran over.
On my turn I charged the fleeing chariot with knights. It got caught and my knights ran off the table. My pegasus flew to march block the boyz. My archers moved to bring out the fanatics. They got killed by 2D6 S5 hits as he had madcap mushrooms. my shooting killed even more orcs and my cannon misfired and couldn't fire for 2 rounds. My helblaster shot one of the chariots on the left and the other one paniced and fled off the table. In his turn one of his fanatics threw double four and killed it´self and the other two collided and got killed . His army marched forward and his giant moved to block the LoS of my pegasus.
My pegasus failed the terror test by throwing a 10 and fled off the table. My knights returned and moved to make a flank charge againsts the boyz. My shooting killed some orcs but they passed their panic tests. The orc boyz unit was raduced to below ten models. the game looked to favour me. On his turn I noticed that his giant could see my knights and was on charge range. He charged my knights who failed their terror test by throwing a 10 and fled off the table. other of his army marched forward.
On my turn I moved my troops backwards to get onemore round of shooting. I also prepared to take the charge of four units. My mortar got a direct hit at his BO who were reduced to 10. Even more orcs were killed but they passed their panic tests. he moved his giant behind the wood to take cover from my cannon. His army prepared to charge next turn.
My army prepared to tkat the orc charge and some NG dropped with mortar shot. His army charged with Biguns, NG and Bo at my infnatry blocks and boyz at my gunner detachement. I made counter charges with my FC but couldn't get to the flanks as the battleline was too wide. He won the combat but all my units holded. The hangunners broke but were not ran over.
I kept shooting the orcs but panic test was passed. My units holded again, with exception of one detachment. Now he charged my gunners with his orcs and won them. My swordsmen broke from combat, causing panic tests at nearby allies, who all fled! My battleline was beaten.
On my last turn I shot 5 Biguns with my helbaster who paniced and ran off the table. On his last turn, no more important things happened. It was a solid loss for me. I think it was because of the failed Ld tests on important units.
Game4
Fourth game ws a Capture against VC. VC player had 3 units of 10 skeletons, 15 grave guard, 10 black knights, 5 dire wolves, 3 spirit hosts, black coach, banshee, lvl4 necro and 3 lvl2 necros. A summon horde. The battlefield was a hill between our deployment zones in the left, a marsh and hill in the middle (marsh being the objective), some fences on his deployment zone in the right and a hill in the far right on my deployment zone. All of his wizards used necromancy. His lvl4 necro got spells 1,3,5 and 6 and his lvl2 necros got spells 1 and 2, 1 and 3 and 1 and 4. Only one Vanhels . His deployment was from left to right: coach, 1 unit of skeletons with master necro, banshee, black knights, another unit of skeletons with necro, dire wolves, unit of skeletons with necro, spirit hosts, grave guard with necro. My deployment was from left to right: Ww, knights, spearmen, helblaster, swordsmen with EC, handgunners and warmachines on the hill. My other charactrs again behind my lines.
He got the first turn. his whole army adwanced full speed ahead. His magic killed 3 spearmen and 1 handgunner. other were dispelled or failed. On my turn I moved the WW to flank charge the coach my next turn. Knights adwanced a little. Archers moved forward. pagasus rider prepared to charge the necro in the skeleton unit next to spirit hosts with the necro in it (with spells 1 and 4). My shooting killed 1 GG and couple of skeletons. Helblater misfired and couldn't fire. My cannon tried to shoot the coach but missed. (if it would have bounced evn 2" )
On his turn he moved his army forward and his BK charged my spearmen. I counter charged with detachment. His magic raised the skeleton unit which I was about to charge with my pegasus 21 strong. His banshee killed 5 knights by howling (OUCH! ) his black knights killed a couple of spearmen but lost the combat by six and most of the unit crumbled. On my turn I had to test terror for my WW who rolled a 10 and ran off the table. My lone knight charged the banshee and my pegasus charged the skeletons. My archers moved to march block some of his units. Swordmen started to move towrds the objective. My shooting killed 3 wolves and 2 GG. My helblaster missed the coach again. in ombat rest of the BK crumbled and the banshee suffered a wound. My pegasus rider couldn't kill the necro. (only one hit of 5 ) he broke and got away.
His third turn his coach charged my knight, wolves at mydetachment and skeletons my pegasus. pegasus got away but didn't run off the table.his magic just raised some skeletons into master necros unit. The knight got killed ad wolves crumbled. On my turn my pegasus captain rolled a 10 for rally and ran off the table. I charged the skeletons which had charged the pegasus with my FC detachment into flank. I turned my spearmen to face the coach and swordmen towards the marsh. My shooting killed a little more GG and cannon misfired. In combat I still couldn't kill the necro with my FC (6 attacks and no wounds) the combat was a draw, but he had a musician and won the combat but my FC got away.
On his turn he started to move his right flank towards my centre. My swordmen were in deep trouble. His coach moved almost out of my spearmen LoS. His magic raised smallish units of skeletons to slow down my swordmen. He tried to dance his coach but it got dispelled. I charged the coach with spearmen and one of the new units of skellies with swordmen. I moved my gunner detachment to prevent the big unit of skeletons from charging the rear of my swordmen. My shooting killed some GG (only 8 left) and my helblaster eliminated the master necros unit. In combat both enemies crumbled and I overran into a unit of 10 skeletons with swordmen.
On his turn second of his new skeletons charged the flank of my swordmen and the other skeletons my gunners who fled. His spirit hosts moved to flank charge my swordmen next turn. His GG adwanced towards the centre. He raised some skellies into the unit in my flank. In combat I lost the combat but survived because of Rod of Command. On my fourth turn I moved my spearmen to face the centre and my gunners rallied. My mortar got a direct hit on the big unit of skellies and necro failed his LookOutSir! roll and got killed (he had survived 3 captain attacks, 2 pegasus attacks and 6 FC attacks with 1 W left) and the unit was reduced to 10. Helblaster finished it. In combat the unit in front crumbled as did most of the unit in the flank. Only two necros left.
The game continued by rolling a 5. (game still continuing on 2+) He charged my swordmen with spirit hosts. His GG moved towards my lines, ready to charge next turn. his banshee tried to run away from my archers, as did his master necro. His magic was pretty ineffective. I broke from combat but got away. I rallied with swordmen and starte to face the spirit hosts. My spearmen tried to charge the small unit of skellies in the marsh but failed their fear check. My archers also charged the banshee. After my shooting phase there were only 3 GG left. my helblaster got 14 hits on his master necro but of which only 2 wounded. the banshee crumbled with CR and I overran to his master necro.
The game still continued with a roll of 3. He charged my swordmen with spirit hosts and my archers with GG and skeletons (there were still 2 left from the raised unit). I failed my panic test with archers and they got caught. His magic raised 10 zombies in snaking formation to slow my swordmen down. I combat the hosts suffered 5 wounds. On my turn I moved my spearmen into the marsh. my helblaster finished the GG and necro. spirit hosts suffered 3 wounds. At this time he only had his general, 10 zombies, 2 skeletons and one spirit host.
The game continued with a roll of 4. He charged his zombies into my swordmen. His magic was ineffective. In combat the spirit host crumbled as did 5 of the zombies. On my turn I charged my spearmen to his master necro. In combat, rest of the zombies crumbled, as did his general. And the two skeletons died for the death of their general. it was a massacre victory for me. Well, actually my opponent was 10 years old kid with his big brother's army so he was an easy win. (I bet his brother had made the army list for him)
Game5
The last battle was a pitched battle against bretonnia. He had 9 KotR, 18 Men at Arms with spears&shields, 15 with halberds, 2 units of 12 bowmen, 9 squires, 6 questing knights, 5 grail knights, 2 paladins, Bsb, damsel and A duke on griffon. The battlefield was a hil in the left btween our deployment zones, a village in the middle and a huge hill in the right at my deployment zone. His deployment was from left to right: halberds left of the hill, bowmen behind it, damsel, griffon, bsb, spears, KotR with paladin, questing knights, squires on the other side of the village, bowmen and grail knights with paladin. My deployment from left to right was: WW, spearmen, helblaster, swordmen, warmachines and handgunners on hill, knights. He decided to take the blessing and I got to start.
I moved my WW to charge his halberds next turn and my knights 7" forward (I knew that distance between our deployments was 24" and the grail knights could only charge 16" so if they charge they would fail.) My pegasus captain prepared to charge his bsb because I knew that if I captured the bsb, the blessing would be lost. I tried to shoot at the GK with my cannon but they failed the test to overcome blessing. My mortar shot 2 KotR and handgunners shot one QK. On his turn his army marched forward. His damsel tried to use the Chalice of Malfleur but suffered a wound from it. His bowmen shot a couple of my gunners.
On my second turn I charged the bsb with my pegasus and halberds with my WW. My knights moved backwards a little so that the GK couldn't charge them. I shot another QK with my gunners and one more KotR with my mortar. Cannon hit the ground in front of GK but didn't bounce. in combat I broke the halberds and ran them down and my pegasus rider killed the bsb and capured his banner. Bye Bye Blessing! He tried to charge my gunners with QK and my swordmen with KotR. His griffon charged the FC detachment of the spearmen. The FC ran off the table and other charges were out of range. His GK moved a little bit forward. his shooting killed one of helblaster's crew and a couple of gunners who passed their panic test.
My spearmen failed their terror test and ran off the table. My knights moved backwards again and my WW prepared to charge the bowmen. My pegasus prepared to charge the damsel. My gunners shot 6 bowmen and one QK. My cannon shot 2 GK. My helblaster got 24 hits on the griffon and as you can guess, it died. (My helblaster was a true griffon killer in this tourney) On his turn his QK charged my gunners and GK my knights. The QK reached their target but GK were half an inh out of range. The damsel drank from the chalice again and got killed. His shooting killed some gunners. QK broke the gunners and ran off the table.
My fourth turn I charged the GK with my knights and bowmen with WW. My swordmen prepared to take the charge of KotR. Pegasus prepared to charge the Qk when they returned to the table. My gunners shot 5 squires and my mortar got a direct hit at the spears who paniced. helblaster misfired and couldn't fire. My knights broke the GK and ran them down. Bowmen also got ran over. On his turn he charged the swordmen with his KotR nad FC with squires. Both units holded. QK prepared to charge at the flank of my swordmen next turn. his shooting killed my wizard and a couple of gunners. His squires lost the combat and got ran over. his knights won the fight by 4 but my swordmen holded thanks to the Rod of Command.
On my fifth turn I charged the QK with my pegasus. They holded. My knights prepared to charge the bowmen and my FC to charge the flank of KotR and WW to rear. My shooting was ineffective. Pegasus rider killed 2 of the KotR but they holded. The swordmen vs. KotR was a draw. His spears rallied. His bowmen didn't kill anything. His QK got killed and hi KotR broke but got away.
My last turn and I charged the KotR with swordmen and WW. I also charged the bowmen with knightsThey gotr caught by the WW. I also moved the pegasus in front of the spears of which only 7 were left. The bowmen died. On his last turn he charged the pegasus but lost the combat and got ran over. After thata there were no bretonnial models on the table. It was a massacre victory for me.
From all the games I collected 3 massacre victories, 1 solid loss and 1 massacre loss. That makes 32 points. I also got 6 points from painting and 5 from fair play. That makes 43 points total. I became 5th in the tourney and I got highest score of all empire players in the tourney. I'm pretty happy for my score as this is the first time I've been in a tourney.
