Arathel’s Arcane Bolt Thrower cost: 180p for the machine and crew, 46p for Arathel. For hire: May hired as a Special choice for the Good armies (except dwarfs) playing Lustria or a Rare unit for the Neutral armies playing Lustria. In normal gaming, Arathel and his “boyz” can be taken as a Rare slot to a High Elf army.

Arathel, a renown engineer of Vaul, constructed an unusual bolt thrower with his Engineer Team and a group of famed Mages of Hoeth. Unlike the “Eagle Claw“, which shoots normal bolts, the “Phoenix Beak” Bolt Thrower hurls magical bolts to engulf the enemy in flames. They have a profile below.

Range: 40” Strenght:3(with no armour saves allowed) on small template, Strenght 5, d3 with no armour saves allowed to troopers right under the centre of the template.
All hits are magical and fireattacks. May shoot every turn, no Misfire. Use the crew’s, not Arathel’s, Bs to shoot.

Crew: 2 High Elven crewmen with the normal statline of crewmen and bows and studded leather armour: 6+ armour save against close combat attacks and magic and 5+ armour save against missile fire. Arathel always companies the trips the “Phoenix Beak” makes, and his profile is detailed below.

Weapons and armour: Phoenix Plate Armour: 4+ armour save, immunity against fire. The armour is non-magical.
Arathel also carries a Hawk Beak Crossbow:
Range: 30 if shooting single shots, 24 if shooting multiple. Single shot: strenght 4, multiple shots: D6+1bolts with strenght 3 with the normal –1 to ‘hit’. Arathel has also a Great weapon.

Varmaankin Pjoo viittasi tuohon Arathielin crossbowiin. Ei kai sekin lättyä ammu?

1) Miksi haltiat käyttävät örkkislangia?
2) Miksi jousen kantama putoaa 2" multi-shottia ammuttaessa? Järkevämpiä vaihtoehtoja on käyyttää normaalia GW:n 6" palikoita (eli ampuu 18":aan multippelia) tai että multiple shotsia voi käyttää vain short rangella (vrt. linko).
3) Miksei jousella ole mitään järkeä ampua single shottia? Käytännössä aina on kannattavampaa ampua 2 shottia -1:llä kuin yksi ilman tuota miinusta, jos ei ole poisonia. Tällä aseella saa ampua puoli miljoonaa kertaa samalla.
4) Insinöörit soveltuvat vähän huonosti high elffien fluffiin.
5) Tällä hetkellä kapistus näyttää katapultilta, joka vain on poikkeuksellisen tarkka eikä misfiretä. Hinta on kyllä ihan kohtuullinen.

Toki löydän siitä jotakin hyvää mutta tarkoitus oli kai kritisoida tuota ja antaa vähän osviittaa siihen kuinka saat paranneltua tuon ja viilattua sen kuntoon?
