Gabriel De Quón, Warlock
Gabriel De Quón was the illegitimate son of a travelling priest of Sigmar and an Estalian heiress. The heiress chose the name with some sly humour, but she isn't an important figure in this story.
In a large house in barren mountainside in southern Estalia, an intelligent and curious boy named Gabriel wandered alone for many an hour. He used to see interesting things from his bedroom window. Daemons riding on the necks of swans and lines scored brilliant white across the sky.
His one friend in early adolescence was the librarian, a queer old man, clean shaven, bespectacled, and oddly secretive by nature. The strange relationship of Gabriel and Eduardo (such was the man's name) was based more on glances than words.
One day Gabriel was seated staring into space on a high stool in the library. A bird flew into the room and disturbed him. Gabriel looked up angrily as he was disturbed, and the creature flopped to the ground, after making a strange and sickening crunch. Gabriel paid no heed to this. It had happened before. He walked forward to the table where Eduardo usually sat, and found a book. He opened it.
A few days later he opened his eyes and looked into a grinning pair of eyes - those of Eduardo.
"You saw, the book!", he smiled, in statement rather than question. "Interesting, isn't it?"
A few years later, Eduardo vanished. Gabriel felt a pang of regret, but on the whole he felt rather freed. One day, aged 19, he looked out of the window and he saw a bonfire's smoke rise up from the village down below. On a whim, so to speak, he packed up all the equipment he wanted, and set off into higher mountain country.
His lair was finally found after seven years by a Witch Hunter, Elgard Von Wych. After a long and exhausting battle, Gabriel was wounded, but managed to flee the Witch Hunter. In his desperation, he asked help from a travelling band of mercenaries headed for Tilea. He left with the warriors to see the world and to expand his knowledge and experience.
Gabriel De Quón is now a 44-year old man, with long greying hair tied in a ponytail, a short, greying beard, and sharp steel-like eyes that have only a hint of sanity left in them. He wears white robes and on his waist hangs a dusty, thick grimoire, the only thing he saved from his underground lair besides three Spiritstones and the enchanted staff he spent seven years crafting.
Gabriel is indeed a genius, an experienced scholar and a conjurer of the arcane arts. But truly, that genius has turned into madness.
Gabriel De Quón can be hired as a Hero choice in any Dogs of War Empire army that doesn't have an Arch Lector or a Priest, and as a Special and a Hero choice in Hordes of Chaos, Dark Elf, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts and Skaven armies. He costs 280 pts. He must be fielded as presented here, and may not be given any other magic items, steeds, skills, etc.
Motto: Knowledge is Power.
Battlecry: Gabriel doesn't have a "battlecry" as such, but often the last thing his enemies hear is manical laughter and spellwords.

Weapons and Armour: Gabriel has the Staff of Summoning.
Magic: Gabriel is a Level 2 Wizard who can select his spells from the following lores: Shadows, Metal, Fire or Death. In addition to two spells rolled from the selected lore, he also knows a special spell Gneissfire as explained later.
Magic Items:
The Tome of the Damned:
This dusty tome was the reason of Gabriel's madness, and he has carried it as his most valued possession all these years. The Tome belonged to the accursed Necromancer Kryodil, and he wrote the unholy pages of this grimoire with his own, corrupt blood.
The Tome of the Damned gives Gabriel the ability to have three spells, one of which is Gneissfire and allows him to throw maximum 5 Power Dice when casting a spell.
Spiritstones:
These small gemstones can be instilled with the souls of dead, allowing Gabriel to harness their power to boost his own spells
Every time Gabriel kills a model with his spell "Gneissfire", he charges a Spirit Stone. The next time he attempts to casts a spell, he gains +2 to the casting roll. This will not affect Miscasts or Irresistible Forces in any way.
Staff of Summoning:
In his years hiding up in the mountains, Gabriel fashioned himself a long, stone staff. It glitters, blue and green coloured minerals shining on planes that seem to shift about the staff. Within the polished surfaces that emerge from the rough stone can be seen skeletal creatures, running. When the staff is tapped, a hollow sound echoes out.
This hollow part is where the genius of Gabriel's staff lies; for it breaks up and distrorts the fabric of reality. This allows Gabriel to summon daemons to his service much more easily; any living and unliving materials can be rent apart through the staff by Gabriel's concentrated will.
The Staff of Summoning allows no Armour Saves in Close Combat and counts as a Hand Weapon. In addition, before the battle, roll from the Summoning Chart for which kind of a creature Gabriel has summoned to do his bidding. If Gabriel is slain, the summoned creature will vanish.
Special Rules:Summoning Chart:
1 - Blood Familiar: This bloodthirsty creature attacks the foes of it's master with a ferocity to match that of a great chimaera.
The Blood Familiar makes a single S5 attack in every Close Combat phase Gabriel takes part in. This attack is resolved before any other attacks and hits automatically one foe in Base contact with Gabriel.
2 - Channeler Familiar: This vicious creature channels the winds of magic for it's master.
Gabriel has +1 Power Dice only he can use.
3 - Imp of Tzeentch: This hideous creature whispers advice in the way of sorcery to the ears of Gabriel
Gabriel ignores his first Miscast.
4 - Spellbinder Spirit: This is a spirit of a long-dead wizard. The ghost will tell Gabriel how to best counter enemy spells.
Gabriel generates +1 Dispel Dice for his own side
5 - Nightmare: Gabriel has summoned a fiery daemonsteed to carry him to battle.
Gabriel may ride the Nightmare.
6 - The Spirits Are Generous: You may choose which kind of a creature is summoned.
Insane:
Gabriel has long since lost his grip on his sanity. He is a maniac, madman and a murderer, but a cunning, intelligent and a dangerous one. If he can remain clear, that is.
At the beginning of player's turn, Gabriel must make a Leadership test. If he fails, roll from this chart:
1 - "Where am I? Eduardo, where has he gone?":
Gabriel stands still this round and may not move, cast spells or do anything else.
2 - "I am invincible!":
Gabriel is Immune to Psychology, and must move towards the closest enemy unit as quickly as possible. His possible unit will follow him. Gabriel may Charge in this manner.
3 - "A whisper in the darkness..":
Gabriel moves 2D6" in a random direction.
4 - "Feel my wrath!"
Gabriel must attempt to cast a random spell towards the closest unit, friend or foe.
5 - "Oh no.."
Gabriel releases magical energies that burn and freeze all those that stand close by. All units within 2D6" must take D3 SD6 hits.
6 - "Mhuahhhahhaa!"
Gabriel goes totally insane! This round, he may use as any dice as he wishes when casting a spell, but suffers a Miscast on a roll of double 1's, 2's or 3's. In addition, he casts the spell with Irresistible force on a roll of double 5's or 6's.
Gneissfire:
By calling the powers of the nether, Gabriel conjures a vortex of dark energy and bends reality to his will. Those unfortunate he chooses are drained of their souls, dying horribly when their skin melts, their eyes begin to bleed and they scream in agony, only to be enslaved under Gabriel's will.
Gneissfire, Casting Value +5
This spell is a Magic Missile with Range 8". It causes D3 S6 hits.
