My fleet:
Bringer of Sorrow - Hades class heavy cruiser. Aboard is Warmaster Kathrok, LD9, mark of khorne
Dark Star - Carnage class cruiser
Mankiller - Murder class cruiser
Maker of Widows&Wrath of Khorne - slaughter class cruisers
6xidolator
5xidolator
LD rolls were decent. 2 8's for cruisers, 2 7's for cruisers, 8 and 6 for escorts(luckily larger had better LD). With LD9 warmaster I figured I had decent LD side.
Ork fleet(roughly):
warlord w/extra field aboard hammer
kill kroozers w/torpedoes
terror ship
2 squadron of onslaughts, 4 strong both
2 squadron of 3? ravagers
squadron of 4 savages
squadron of 5 brute ramships
I THINK that's the fleet. Kill kroozer had LD5, other capital ships LD7 and escorts had mostly 6's and 7's with one 5 in there.
Celestial phenomeny was medium planet on his right(my POV) with moon to south-west(again my POV). Dust clouds on my left-center and right, asteroid field on left and his left-center. We opted for fleet engagement scenario. I opted sphere, he opted wedge. With me having fastest ship and best commander I won roll off so I surrounded him. My deployment was squadron of slaughters on left with small idolator squadron, in center murder and hades(murder having the lead) and on right carnage and second escort squadron. I had some plans about getting behind him and having anvil of murder and hades. He deployed in messy group with big ships behind, escorts front. I also won first turn.
So for a while we aproach. My lines get bit scattered when he unloads MASSIVE torpedo salvoes. Everything that had torpedoes used them! In particular right suffered major salvoes so dark star went to AAF to get out of way while escorts headed straight toward planet. Mankiller and Bringer of Sorrow headed toward right to avoid nasty torpedoes as well. Slaughters headed toward main combat but blasted LD checks kept them from using AAF...
First major blood was spilt OVER the medium planet where my 2 cruisers and escort squadron had went. Everywhere orks came in weapons blasting and with practically entire fleet shooting at my capital ship it was nearly gone in a round. 7 hit point and fire critical...Naturally I didn't fix it and thus pummeled to planet after drifting hulk was result. Damn those heavy gunz are bad! I thought I had endured it untill savages opened up...My return attacks were pretty darn feeble, blowing mostly escort here, another there. Had Dark Star been crippled at this point as well things might have been whole lot messier for me. However as luck was it when I couldn't afford going to brace for impact, after the overpowerfull AAF, he couldn't get through shields and torpedoes were effective. Thus, with help of come to new heading, I managed to avoid disengaging by moving off table edge.
Second loss came with mankiller who first tried to board terror ship(hoping against odds) but getting driven off when lost by 1 and then got pummeled(only stinky turn rate of ork escorts saved him!) badly. I might note here that orks were having jolly good time using planet's gravity well. They definetly got better out of it! In the end I had 2 hit point remaining and fire critical caused. Naturally I disengaged(easy with the insane number of blast markers! In 2 rounds of engagement I had nearly ran out of blast markers!).
Overall it looked mighty bad for chaos. But as always with gothic never despair at initial casualties. Crossing each other my fleet(from right dark star and idolators, from left 2 slaughters and idolator, all passed each other
So while idolators had disengage, with only 1 escort from both remaining, things were much rosier! After his last escorts par 2 onslaughts disengaged hammer opted to follow suit. And what happened to those onslaughts? Slaughters boarded them. Game, set and match.
However with majority of escort squadrons of orks having disengaged and my flagship being destroyed I only managed to secure victory by 110 and few odd points. Damn it was tough game. And damn those savages are NASTY if they get to fire.
