I got my first epic game played. I decided to use ork horde while friend opted for eldar. Not that it suprised me. Eldar in 40k, eldar in BFG, eldar in Inquisitor...Atleast he's consistent :D We had agreed on no titans and no flyers to ease the rule learning process. Da horde:

spirit warrior troupe with wraithlords.

Looking at our armies I couldn't help but laugh for the main warband I had alone nearly matched the eldar force in numbers. Atleast army character was obvious on the army sizes...For terrain we scattered forrests and hills around the battlefield. Objectives were set as per scenario rules with end result that the objectives were extremely close on each other, mostly straight 30cm from next.

I had only one formation that could set up as garrison, the walkers, which I put front of required objective. Speed freaks I put on my left, gunfortress were behind the walkers, weighed more on left side of the walker swarm. Big guns were on right side of walkers.

Eldars had 3 garrison forces. Avatar, rangers and spirit warriors. Spirit warriors took the lead, rangers were more on left and behind on hill while avatar was pretty much on top of objective. Rest of his army was scorpions on left(with night spinners on right of them, banshees on right(fire prism on left of them), guardians behind the ranger hill, cobra on left and scoprion on right(we noticed only AFTER game that this was mistake. However probably had no real effect during the game).

First turn:

Scorpions advance and fire at stompa mob killing 2. Speed freaks respond by double move and blows waveserpent along with 1 scorpion. Night spinners destroy 4 buggies breaking speed freaks(okay. SPREAD OUT when there's barrages nearby). Guardian wave serpents move top of hill unloading and blowing some more killa kans. Cobra blows gunfortress(mistake. I forgot they had 3 damage capacity in a first place...Duh!). Speed freak band 2 moves slightly less than first one. Spirit warriors move forward and blows yet more killa kans. Big gun mob moves at flank of them blowing 1 wraithlord. I notice that orks aren't particulary good shooters. If they advance they need 3+ initiave roll(or worse), if they double move to act more likely they shoot at -1 modifier...Bummer. Rangers kill few big guns.

Rallies go badly for both side(and I forgot the ork bonus for whole game). Only gunfortress mob managed to rally.

Second turn:

This time I actually managed to win the initiave and naturally I opted to take it. Declaring big guns as formation to act sneaky eldar stole the initiave and tried engage command for spirit warriors...Only to fail the initiave roll. Hurah! So he blew out 2 big guns and battlewagon instead. Then my sustained fire(for which I passed test with ease) blew out 2 wraithlords and wraithguard. His cobra blew another gunfortress(damn my memory). Afraid of losing them too soon I ordered engage and engaged scorpions with ease. End result was one dead eldar unit and one broken ork unit(as the destroyed gun fortress had caused quite an amount of blast markers!). Withdrawal move saw them run behind nearby hill(no suprises there). Avatar then proceeded to charge the big guns(why did I move them that far in a first place is mystery) and killed battlewagon and 2 big guns thus breaking the unit. Big guns were mounted up into wagons which then proceeded to head home. Dread mob then proceeded to do marshal action and passed the initiave check. Removing all markers they moved forward toward guardians at full speed(concidered making engage move but I would have only been able to make firefight vs the guardian mob...With my units in range being mostly killa kans...6+ firefight vs 4+ firefight. No thank you. Odds of breaking is too high for my taste). Then guardians(sustained fire), scorpion tank, fireprism(sustained fire) and howling banshee wave serpents all fired at stompa mob. Loads of walkers died resulting in one broken stompa mob...Not good. At the end of 2nd turn only formation that WASN'T broken was one speed freak mob that headed behind the same hill that gunfortress were hiding in...

And again rallies went badly though remembering ork rally rule would have helped a lot.

Third turn:

Jetbikes arrive and engage non-broken speed freak, destroying 1 vechile and breaking the rest. Eldars advanced onto objectives and blew stompa mob, par 2 solitary dreadnought, into oblivion. Damn the broken units are vulnerable. Rally rolls were failed, again and as eldars had all objectives par break the spirit game ended in massive eldar victory...

Damn the Epic is FUN! Made few mistakes in game plus forgetting gun fortress DC3 and ork rally bonus hurted a lot. I'm looking forward on next game.
