Pahoittelen sekavuutta yms mutta epic on hitusen hankala peli muistaa jälkikäteen riittävällä tarkkuudella(ainakin minun surkealla muistilla), hence enemmän yleisluontoinen kuvaus pelistä.

Second Epic game for me. Again orks vs eldar, 3000 pts, no titans, no flyers(the 2 rules to keep amount of rules small enough to remember easily. We'll be adding titans to next game though). I tried following list:

Big warband w/warboss, 8 killa kans and stompa without hammer
Big warband w/8 battlewagon
normal warband
stormboyz host w/total of 12 stormboyz
gunmob w/5 battlewagon
stompa mob w/3 stompa's without hammer, 5 dreadnought and 8 killa kan
Huge speed freak warband w/24 warbuggies

He had:

avatar
guardian host in wave serpents and falcons and 2 support team + avatar,
scorpion & banshee hosts, both in wave serpents and with exarch
2 scorpions
harlequin jetbike host(which he forgot to use. Since we were playing with cardboard counters it's easy to lose those...)
falcon troupe
fireprism troupe
spirit host troupe

Terrain didn't play important role in this game apart for LOS blocking. Hills on his left and center, another on my right. 3 forrest scattered around and ruined city on my left.

I had warboss and stormboyz on the central objective of mine, normal warband and stompa mob on right. Reinforcements were battlewagons on right, gunmob on center and buggy horde on left. He had avatar at center, spirit host on right. Reinforcements were pretty much on center, ready to speed where he wished.

Turn 1:

Massed firepower takes 7 walker out(including 1 stompa) breaking the mob. I destroy entire falcon host. Stormboyz fly into left behind hill though few are in sight. Warboss mob takes some casualties as well, nothing minor. My return attacks being feeble(apart from falcons of course).

Turn 2:

He won strategy roll and mounted assault. Avatar, commanding banshee host along him, charged into intermingled warboss + normal warband. Bloody combat sees death of 7 ork unit(plus few grots) though could have been worse. Avatar missed with EVERY attack. In return total of 2 banshees dies and avatar fell as one of the 2 hits I caused turned into critical damage. Orks concolidiated around a bit when eldar fell back(losing 2 more). Inspired by this stormboyz engaged scorpion host AND fire prisms. I got my ass kicked and assault result saw death of the 6 stormboyz that survived initial attacks. THAT was dumb! However this I answered with warbuggies which blasted apart 2 wave serpents(hurah!) breaking the host. His spirit hosts proceeded to break my normal warband(one thing to note. Epic Armageddon is damn bloody!) and didn't lose much when battlewagon mob came to shoot them at point blank range(using double command). Final events were guardian host engaging buggy horde, killing some, only to get blasted apart when my warboss host(thanks to supreme commander reroll) made succesfull advance command and blasted hordes of eldar apart, breaking the unit.

At this point game was as good as in bag. Despite regrouping with some units he had VERY small chances of stopping me from winning the game. I had so far completed defend the flag and thou shall not pass and was aproaching objectives. He had 1 goal, defend the flag, completed...I had eldar surrounded from 3 sides with large part of eldar host broken.

Turn 3:

We thought about the situation together(this being more of learning game than bloody competive game) and concluded that eldar were in trouble. I pointed out that he could possibly atleast delay the inevitable by sending scorpio host(1 wave serpent and 2 stands) at march move behind the city on my block which would make thou shall not pass goal incomplete for me. He did this at the middle of turn. Initially though scorpions blasted 3 buggies apart(hoo scary!) and charged into battlewagon mob with spirit host. This saw death of most of the spirit host for loss of 3 ork unit + grot unit. Spirit host fell back. Then battlewagon mob advanced, boarding the battlewagons and speeding next to objective on his right. Some inspired rolling and remaining wraithguard and wraithlord were killed. I also blasted one scorpion heavy tank(though took bloody lot firepower to do it) apart, thus breaking the other one. At this point buggies were controlling left objective and battlewagon mob right one. Thus take and hold + defend the flag goals were completed. Rest of turn didn't change these and with 2 goals vs 0 goals game was on my bag. The day was not good one for the dying race.

Lessons learned. Ork mobs are EXTREMELY hard to stop. Assault would seem most reliable way to do that but ork mobs are extremely nasty in assault too, especially against eldar where I was getting +2 for outnumbering almost all the time...Ork shooting is also suprisingly effective, simply by firing so many shots. Sure buggies needed 6's to hurt wave serpent. But when you fire 24...In average he's rolling 2 invulnerable saves and if neither succeeds then odds are good that his exarch host would be broken at once.

Friend needs to learn to use Hit & run rule though. That's something he failed to exploit.

Next game. We add titans. Should be interesting. Damned eldar titans with their holofields...
