Ignition of Malice

Ellard startled up from his sleep, he was all over wet from cold sweat, his heart poundered, his face was pale white from fear and his eyes dilated . He had seen something evil, extremely evil things but he didn’t remember those things anymore. But still he fealt terror settling inside him. Emotion after emotion rushed to fill him, fear, hatred, disgust and other which made him shiver. He buried his head at his cameleoline cloak which served as cushion for his head and wept silently. He didn’t know why he did weep but he continued it for several hours befores his tear channels had run dry, his throat was sore and his voice just a hoarse croak.
After he had taken long swig from his flask he stood up. His mind was filled with so many things that he didn’t even noticed that he had walked outside the building.
´Are you all right sir?´ asked the man who was assigned for nightwatch. The man pointed his flashlight towards Ellard but didn’t manage to get a good view of Ellard’s face.
´I can take the nightwatch, woke to a bad dreams and can’t get anymore sleep. You can go back to sleep.´ Ellard stated after a moment.
´Thank you sir.´ guardsman said cheerfully, though his cheer would’ve died in his throath if he would have seen Ellard’s face. Guardsman handed the flashlight for Ellard who rejected it..
´I manage without it, thanks still.´ Ellard said coldly. Guardsman yawned and streched his hands before retreating back to his quarters. Ellard went to battlements and saw that Astartes had their own patrols encircling the camp. They had advanced very deep within the ork lines with the help of the Astartes. Their Brother-Captain had been boasting how he hadn’t yet lose none of those battles he accompanied.
Ellard sighed as the cool air eased his pulse. He took his flask from his belt and screw it open with shaking hands. He poured the water over his head, trying to refresh himself. Suddenly he had an glimpse of horrible sight. In the dim light he saw that the water was in actually blood! He could taste its metallic taste and smelled the reek of blood. He started to feel dizzy and then the light flickered and the blood turned back to water as it had been before. Ellard was horrified and sheer terror tried overcome him.
´No... No. No no no! Why do they haunt me...´ Ellard whined, though he knew the answer very well. He just didn’t want to believe in it.
´They are here...´ he gasped.

´Rise, my captains.´ said voice which was like hundreads of nails scraping chalkboard. Coridus clanced quickly at his rivaling captain, Thelacan before concentrating his gaze on the form of their great Warsmith.
´I shall send you down on that planet to fight against those pesky followers of the Corpse God. And I want you to kill them to the last man with the help of the orks.´ shadowy form said, its tone started to include sick, hideous humor.
´And we shall show our might to everyone. Imperium will once again start to fear us and curse our name.´ he stopped, stepping from the darkness and walked before his champions.
´Go now! I want that planet been cleansed from imperialis. And do not disappoint me. For it is crucial for us to get this planet under the control of Chaos or deny the use of it from anyone.´ he roared.
Coridus and Thelacan bowed and started to back away. Suddenly there was a sound of an sickly, wet explosion, as a human body had been blowed aparts from inside. Blood splurted everywhere as one of the sorcerer Jaoxaum’s assistant exploded from inside to outside.
Coridus heard Thelacan sighing as blood splattered on their armour and both traitor captains readied their weapons. Warsmith laughed coldly as he saw that daemon started to materialize in the place where had been the unlucky assistant. Coridus activated energy of his claw pair. Thelacan lifted his giant axe for a strike. Jaoxaum scuttered behind the massive form of his master who gazed anxiously on the shimmering form.
Minute or two had passed as the daemon had achieved its full physical form. It was a gigantic Daemon Prince who beared large symbol of Khorne in its chest. It spun its head around and stopped when it saw Thelacan. It spoke, its words rather felt than heard.
´I am an Daemon Prince of Khorne, and mortals do know me as Khảrngar the Slaughterer.´
´And what do you want, Prince of Khorne?´ Warsmith chuckled.
´Do you want me to declare the battles for you?´ Warsmith continued, starting to feel irritated as the daemon had appeared without invitation. The daemon turned its gaze on the Warsmith.
´No. I came for Thelacan. He has been ignoring the call of his true master for too long. My master send me to take care of him. I shall let him complete your campaing on this planet before I will leave and take him with me.´ Khảrngar answered, its voice dangerously controlled. Thelacan was confused.
Would his master going to hand him over for that daemon? He thought.
´I see... And why would I give up one of my best captains for you?´ Warsmith asked.
´It would be unwise to oppose my words for even one word from me can kill a man. Not to mention about the hordes of daemons I can call with one word, and it is a short one. Which in the otherhand means quick, painful and disgraceful death to you as you realize you’ve failed in your campaing.´ Khảrngar replied, its tone starting to get more louder and frustated. The Warsmith thought hard, his black armour which constantly changed shape, its drifting metal easily left anyone to stare it in amazement. Though now its drift was often disrupted as he didn’t know what to make from the offer the Daemon had given him. Finally he had made his mind and said.
´I will let Thelacan to decide if he wants to join you. If he doesn’t you will leave here in one piece or in many pieces. It is up to you´ the Daemon had almost offended from the Warsmith statement.
´I know what you want and I will give it to you. Power, strenght, right to be feared and many things more. You have always adored Kharn from the World Eaters but I see in you that you will come almost equally good warrior as Kharn. Imagine the epic duel with you and the Kharn in the end, imagine the respect you receive and terror what you cause when you emerge victoriously helding Kharn’s Gorechild and his head. Imagine...´ Thelacan heard inside his helmet and the last word continued to echo inside his helmet when he told his decision. He felt that it had been long time since Warsmith had completed his sentence but in reality he said it within second of the last word which came from the Warsmith.
´I shall join with my true master when this battle is over.´
Coridus couldn’t believe what was happening, even though he knew that if a daemon wants something it will get it sooner or later. But still! His battle-brother would desert his Master and the Grand Company of the Iron Warriors he had served his whole life. Probably he would fell beneath a fellow berzerkers weapon, or even to his own weapon. He shrugged the uneasy feeling. Focusing back for the situation.
´My lord.´ started Jaoxaum but the daemon gazed him malevolently, and grinned, showing long, canine teeths it had which probably could cut through the thickest of armour plates. It pointed one of its finger, its nails were like talons, and this time it roared outloud.
´You don’t have any other choices, my dear Warsmith! Do you prefer to be dead or alive? Choose wisely and in one day you may ascend to a Daemonhood too!´ Its words hit like a hammer on a Warsmith.
´So be it! When we’ve done with this planet Thelacan will be yours!´ Warsmith roared, gazing defiantly in the eyes of the daemon.
´Ah, wise choice my dear Warsmith. And as my master wants Thelacan to survive from this campaing so he can serve Khorne I shall watch over him. In other words I will help you little down on the surface and be...´ Khảrngar said, and it started to get amused.
´...His ‘Guardian Angel’, or should I say ‘daemon’?´ It finished, amused by the thought.
Thelacan couldn’t believe his ears, even though he had made the decision. The daemon had tricked him and he felt his rage building up. Khảrngar turned and gazed Thelacan, sensing his rage.
´Save your rage, my dear captain. You will need it later, and it would be wiser if you went your frustration on the lackeys of the Corpse God.´ the daemon spoke, its voice soothing Thelacan who instantly forgot his rage. Coridus was amazed. For the first time someone else than Warsmith had made Thelacan to calm down. Truly that Daemon Prince was talented to control the followers of the Blood God! Coridus glanced down, noticing the dried blood on his armour. It gave contrasting add to his burnished iron of his armour. Golden trim on his shoulder pads gave striking add too. His golden claws with talons of enchanted darkly blue colour looked marvelous. He looked at Warsmith, then at Jaoxaum and turned his gaze on a dae-.
Where had it gone! He looked back to Warsmith who was boiling with hatred. Warsmith roared.
´Go and get me slaves! Go!!´ he and Thelacan bowed before jogging away. Coridus couldn’t still digest these new turns of events.

Ellard watched as the morning sun rised behind buildings, its rays piercing the gloomy morning fog. He sighed with relief. Suddenly those horrific and dark thoughts were gone, but he had a hunch that everything wasn’t right. He shivered, it was getting colder with every morning, winter was coming, and when it comes it would turn into a trench warfare. He fingered his shotgun nervously. He yawned and stood up. His arse was all stiff and he had to rub it for while to get some feel into it.
Maybe sitting all night on one position wasn’t the brightest idea... He thought.
´I see you have waken up early.´ said voice behind him. Ellard turned around to see Joe Tridden’s face. He saluted.
´Yeah...´ he replied, bit tiredly.
´Here.´ Joe said bit silently as he handed Ellard a flask. Ellard took a swig and coughed as he swallowed the liquid. Joe smiled.
´Good stuff, eh? Amasec... Best what you can get down here.´ Joe said. Ellard nodded and took another swig. The angry heat burning in his guts felt just so good. He sighed when the last of the heat had gone. Ellard refused lho-stick which Joe offered him, saying.
´I don’t smoke.´ and threw a thin smile at Joe.

Commissar Piet shot a glance at the commanding officer, Drewlar Ambrose. He muttered something outloud. He was too in confuse as the Regimental Headquarters had suddenly fallen silent. But if they were attacked they would have voxed. He cursed.
´Go talk to the Space Marine Captain and try to find out if he knows anything.´ Ambrose said. Usually Commissars take no commands from anyone but to him it was more like a plea. Piet nodded and left the command bunker. Piet’s mind raced as he walked to the chimera.
´To the first line.´ he said to the crewmen. They obeyed orders silently, even though they knew what was coming for them. He sat in the confined space of the interior, two other guardsman followed in. Last one drew the door shut and banged at the roof. Chimeras engines roared to life, noise almost deafening. The guardsmen sat opposite at him, man who had came first in shot him a thin smile. Chimera moved, and drived through the camp and set off towards the first line.

All in all... Muncho bueno sanoisi epsanialainen... :D

Hyvä tarina, mun mielestä kummatkin kohtaukset olivat juuri tarinaan sopivia ja jotenkin toi englannin kieli antoi siihen hiaman syvyyttä.

Peukut sulle.
