Last year we had only 150 or so players 52 of which where for 40k, this year it was 202 players in all 3 games, 65 of which where 40k players.
Tourny was just this last weekend (2 days ago) Had a great time and I played my Godzilla nids again (why wouldnt I?)

Carnifex VC/BS, ES, FH, Spinebanks 154pts
Carnifex VC/BS, ES, FH, Spinebanks 154pts
Slightly different to the one I took to the scandinavien GT, at the GT I noticed that no one wants to shoot at HS fexs with 5 wounds and they instead went for the elite fexs.
As the elite fexs are stronger against troops this is not what I wanted, also I noticed they kept shooting my shooty tyrant dead asap and since the only other synapse I have is the winged tyrant which was always rather far from the gaunts this was not a good thing for me.
to combat this I dropped the extra wounds on the HS fexs and bought a tyrant guard for the tyrant. I really like the guard! would not mind having another tbh.
On to the reports:
Game 1 was against Sisters of battle
Opponents army had:
immolater
exorcist
2 penitant engines
rhino with 7 sisters inside
squad of seraphin (no special weapons)
Lots of sisters all over the place (lots of 12" range meltas, 1 24" melta)
Never played against sisters before so I was not sure what to expect.
Terrain was minimal though the opponent had so few high Strength weapons I was not too worried.
I won roll for first turn and decided to take it due to the fear of the exorcist, I started by moving everything forward, I shot the exorcist dead with a Sniperfexs barbed strangler, I also shot down the rhino with sisters inside, I then used the zoans to shoot the squad with the 24" melta, causing them to run.
Enemies shooting was largely innefective (bolters vs T6 3+)
By turns 2-3 I had my winged tyrant and ravs attacking his lines, 2 ravs went to the right and took on some normal sisters in CC, to the left the tyrant assualted a penitent engine using it as a speed boost to get to the sisters. 6 attacks, 4 hits, 4 pens, destroyed before it could strike.
the tyrant then spent the rest of the time wiping out half his army, anything I didnt shoot to death, in the end I had not lost much, not 1 MC dead....Not untill I was fighting the VERY last sister!!!!!
The seraphin in some mad act of bravory had charged one of my devilfexs, with only 2 attacks a turn and the sisters even using a faithpoint to make their save invulnurable the fex was not killing anything, after a few rounds of fighting the seraphin another devilfex joined in the fight to save the other 1 wound fex from dying, I was not worried as there where only 2 seraphin left......I was wrong, just before the last seraphin was toasted it managed to summon the blessing of some unseen god and managed to take down the devilfex with its BARE HANDS!
Striking the Fex in the eye and felling the beast just a mere moment before that last sister was destroyed by the other fex..
All in all the opponent had no real chance against my army due to being equipped for a totally different opponent but the dramatic ending with me losing a fex was just great!
Game 2 Chaos
Stature prince with speed (just S5)
2 Oblits
10 bloodletters
Tac squads:
2*plasma
plasma, HB
las, plas
las, plas
3 bikes (asp with lightning claws)
Defiler
5 havocs, 2 missile, 2 reaper autocannon
Opponent deployed defiler and lord to the right of the table, lord behind los blocking terrain, most of his marines to the left and the bikes in the center.
Secure and control with 5 loot markers
I deployed 2 HS fexs in the center to shoot at the defilers, 2 ravs left as backup, rest of my army to the left against his marines.
Opponent won first turn and shot his Heavy weapons, did a wound or 2 on a elite fex and killed a few gaunts, defiler instakilled a ravener outside synapse.
In my turn I managed to shoot the cannon off the defiler, I also shot down 3 of his havocs with 2 warp blasts.
On turn 2 my opponent surprised me by moving his bikes closer to my HS fexs, he summoned the bloodletters with them but they scattered 11" in the wrong direction so they could not assualt me that turn.
He shot a wound on one of my HS fexs with his defilers other weapons.
Turn 2 I moved my army forward and shot a whole lot of marines, I also just barely made it into CC with my Winged tyrant. There was nothing he had in that area to take out the tyrant (the only terrain in that area allowed me to get into CC without being shot by the enemies plasma, lucky me)
After this not alot happened, he threw all the marine she had at the tyrant (he knew it would get them anyway) this tied up the tyrant for the rest of the game (though he did kill LOTS of marines)
The enemies bikes attacked a elite fexs and killed it, I sent in a rav to take out the bikes and consolidated too close to the letters allowing them to assualt me.
Turn 3 my HS fex shot down the defiler, the other one was in CC with the letters that had killed the rav and consolidated into it. I sent in the other fex and another ravener to help take out the letters, in the end they killed 2 fexs and almost stopped me taking one of the objectives as I had to send in a ravener that was holding an objective to make sure the letters where below scoring status.
I think they killed themselves with instability in the end.
I took all 5 objectives on turn 6 and won 20/0
Not sure why he kept that DP hidden, it would have got its ass kicked by my HT but as it is it did nothing all game besides hide and mybe defend the defiler....but not really.
Oh yea the Oblits DSed on turn 2-3, scattered 12" towards his table edge and died for falling off the face of the oooh board.
Game 3 Eldar Biel tan against Tom Lambart (we went to the tourny together, he was at the GT with me also)
Well it seems he was Bieltan now, was saimhan at the GT, Ulthwe normally, won't he make up his mind
His army:
Mini seer council on bikes (yea for real!)
Farseer with 5 warlocks, enhance, fortune, 6 witchblades
2* Vypers starcannon
2* Vypers starcannon
2* Vypers starcannon
6 warpspiders
9 firewarriors + exarch with firepike
in serpent with TL brightlance
2 Wraithlords
Table was really nice (will post pic later) Large terrain in the center (took up half the table almost, well 1/3rd) and 2 smaller terrain pieces to the left.
Mission was cleanse alpha which gave me an advantage as he had so few scoring units.
He won roll for choosing table edge and took the top left, the side that had the most terrain (he could even deploy inside the large terrain but chose not to) I got the opposite so my entire army started outside of terrain.
I deployed as close to the center as possible wanting to get into the terrain asap, I knew once inside 4+ cover my army would be nigh invincible.
He deployed 2 wraithlords and 6 vypers up the top center just out of los incase I got the first turn.
the firedragons in the serpent and the warp spiders to the left also out of los.
I won roll for first turn, seeing as his army was devided I let him have the first turn (baad idea!) his vypers came into los along with the wraithlords and he shot down BOTH of my HS fexs! 4 of my 5 guns that had equal range to his starcnanons where now out on turn 1!
My turn 1 had me shoot down a vyper and shale another.
turn 2 my opponent brought the serpent into lance range and shot the spiders at a fex aswell, the vypers and wraithlords shot down my tyrant guard and put 3 wounds on my tyrant.
On turn 2 I moved my army into cover and my Zoans shot down 2 spiders, I also shot a wound onto one of his WLs.
On turn 3 Tom got a little cocky and brought his starcannon vypers FAR too close, to 22-26" all 3 squads... big mistake!
He kills my shooty tyrant (I didnt even remember to fire it the turn before because I hid it so well from my own los and forgot about it) he shoots a elite fex down to 1 wound. he then brings his council close to take pot shots with his jetbikes against a ravener though he has only 1 in range and does nothing.
My tyrn 3 sees me trying to assualt his seer council with my tyrant, that fails but I do get 1 gaunt and 2 raveners into CC. (other guants had died, all 7)
My elite fex with 1 wound moves out and shoots 2 vypers down, another devilfex stays in cover and shoots down another squad of 2, I do not manage to do anything to the last one.
In CC My ravs cause a few wounds which the council then saves, the council also does 2 wounds to one of the ravs but I save 1 and keep it alive.
On my opponents turn 4 he shoots down the 1 wound fex as was expected, he then also thinks about brining in the firedragons to shoot at the tyrant but ultimately decides against it. and leaves the seer council to fend for themselves.
The dragons and warp spiders start making a run for the hills.
The WLs and vyper do the same, deciding to keep enough units alive to contest the table quarters at the end of the game.
Turn 4 for me, My tyrant joins the council combat and so do a squad of gaunts, the council kills a ravener but ultimately dies in the next assualt phase, the warlocks are killed in CC and the farseer is run down.
At this point it is starting to look like it will be a tie, the speeder is hiding behind los blocking terrain so I cannot get to it, the spiders and the serpent are doing the same, the terrain is so large that I cannot see outside to even shoot at them.
I concentrate all my warp spider fire on the 2 wraithlords, I shoot 1 down with 2 warpblasts and then the 2 Devilfexs finnish off the last wound.
The last wraithlord I take out with my winged tyrant in CC I LOVE acid maw!!!!
In the end 3 quarters are contested and 1 is in my control so it is a 13/7 win for me.
Was a great game, I had the better army I think as my opponent was too afraid of ever taking out the dragons, we have played so many times before he knows if he takes them out I will destroy them. Was just not worth the tradeoff in this case.
We both made rather large mistakes, for me it was giving away the first turn, for him it was getting cocky with his vypers!
We are 4/4 for our games now.
Game 4: Tyranids
Opponents army:
Winged tyrant (init 5)
VC/ST tyrant
2 rending raveners
10 horms
10 horms
10 horms
15 spines
12 spines
10 stealers
2 HS fexs with VC/BS, chitin, regenerate
Mission: Seek and destroy
Opponent got to choose sides so he took the one with cover in the center (he kept the HS fexs in there for fear of my zoans)
I started deployment, it was escalation game so all I started with was 16 gaunts and 3 Zoans.
Opponent got his spines, warriors and stealers.
Turn 1 enemy:
Warriors shoot down a few gaunts and force a ld check, gaunts run.
His stealers and spine advance.
Me turn 1:
Fail to rally gaunts and 1 unit runs off table.
Other gaunts don't move.
Zoans shoot a wound on a warrior and kill 2 gaunts.
Enemy turn 2:
He rolls for reserves and get everything except a 1 ravener maybe?
Advances everything as far as he can and shoot down 2 gaunts OOOh!
Me turn 2:
I get winged tyrant, 2 devilfexs and 2 ravs.
I bring my winged tyrant near my gaunts on the left flank so they can move, the gaunts move up and fire on spinegaunts killing a few, HS fex shoots down 4 horms. 2 devilfexs shoot on the stealers and kill maybe half of them.
Enemy turn 3: gets rest of his reserves, moves up with everything, shoots down a few gaunts (the pain!)
Me turn 3: I get the rest of my reserves, shoot down all but 1 stealer, shoot down some more gaunts. I realize My winged tyrant is the shit in CC so I move it up (his tyrant is crap compared to mine just because it is missing that 15pt init6 upgrade MUHAHAhahahaha)
Enemy turn 4:
Moves his army BACK! seems he fears my devilfexs too much. Shoots down another gaunt or 3, shoots big guns on devilfex causing no wounds.
Me turn 4:
Ah the coward! he is running! I move my tyrant again (into his assualt range) I almost made the mistake of going behind cover but luckily I noticed this mistake and took him out of the cover.
I shoot down yet more of his gaunts and my devilfexs (all 3 of them) gang up on his devilfex which has stayed too close, taking 2 wounds off it.
Enemy turn 5:
Ah the fool! he came into assualt range!
Seems I just came within 22" of his horms and 18" of his spines, he off course rolls for 5 fleet rolls and gets: 5,5,6,6,6 lol!
All his gaunts get into CC and tie up alot of thngs, Winged tyrant, Fex, 2 Zoans and my tyrant guard.
10 horms cause 2 wounds to a devilfex on the charge! I kill maybe 5 gaunts (the lone stealer ran to keep the unit alive)
Me turn 5: I send in backup to rescue winged tyrant from being locked in CC for too long, I send in 8 termagautns and 2 ravs.
Winged tyrant killed 2 gaunts the turn before, again it kills 2, opponent takes them from the ones in btbt with the 2 ravs so I just lost 10 rending attacks!!! gaunts kill a few, they take a few no retreat saves but I am still stuck!
Tyrant with guard cannot make it into btb with the enemy with its 6" consolidate move so cannot attack! OMG there was another CC next to them so it had to go around the guard!
Horms/spines are innefective against my TMCs and 2+ save zoans so nothing much happens.
My HS fex assualts a ravener killing another fex, misses with both attacks
enemy turn 6:
Winged tyrant charges my HS fex and kills it, my tyrant gets out of CC with his horms. 6" consolidate, I decide to go after his winged tyrant.
his horms kill one of my fexs with the help of a ravener, the other ravener takes out another elite fex with the help of some horms. Rav is killed by my HS fex.
My turn 6:
I had to decide wheter to go after his 2 HS fexs and the shooty tyrant +warriors and the lone stealer hiding behind terrain or go after the winged tyrant with my one.
Not wanting to risk there not being more than 1 turn left (random game length) I just went for the winged tyrant.
Tyrant assualts winged tyrant, the 2 ravs though! they went for his walking tyrant! Winged tyrant of mine rolls 6 attacks, 4 hits, 4 wounds, implant (poison on the blades) means the enemy takes 8 wounds!
Dies horribly.
the 2 ravs take 3 wounds off his walking tyrant, tyrant directs all attacks toward 1 rav and kills it, still not a bad trade, 90vpts for 40vp.
My Zoans (all 3) fight and win against horms, killing 3 while horms do 1 wound.
Fexs kill a few more gaunts. He has no SYNAPSE! and his gaunts start to run away!
My elite fex shoots at a squad of horms taking them to half.
Oh and one of my ravs had a duel with one of his, I rended his to death while he only got 1 wound on me.
Roll for extra turn please please please I WANT IT!
3 AAAAAAHH no extra turn.
I have lost:
HS fex
2 elite fexs
8 gaunts
2 ravs
Enemy lost:
Winged tyrant
half of walking tyrant
half of stealers
1 and a half horm squads
1 squad of spines and other is at half?
2 ravs
1 elite fex (shot it to death on turn 6 I think)
13/7 to me
I made the mistake of allowing him to assualt my shooty things with gaunts, I didnt realize I was so close, also his fleet rolls where PERFECT! madness
Game 5 Alaitoc
Last game! I am in 2nd place at this point, my opponent in first with a 11pt lead.

I won roll for choosing sides.
Terrain was so that in the center (take and hold mission) there was a large size 2 helicopter landing pad, size 2 models from behind could not see to the other side, it also had railings that gave a whopping 6+ cover save.
to the top right and bottom left where 2 small forrests, one on either side and to the left was another los blocking forrest, near the forrest to the right (the side I chose to start on down the bottom) was also a large ice glacier that bloacked los decenty.
I was afraid the alaitoc would shoot me to death with his pathfinders so I hid my entire army behind the glacier, plan was to just walk to the objective (2 turns walk) on turns 5 and 6 and win because he could not get more than 2 rounds shooting off me.
opponent deployed all over his deployment area mostely due to me sacrificing my 2 gaunt squads all the way over to the left of the table away from the rest of my army, he though I was splitting my forces so he did that with his army.
Disruption saw him shoot my winged tyrant and a ravener off the table into reserves, he also took a wound off a Zoanthroape (snipers with no los shooting me.......lame)
there was also a special mission being played as it was the last game of the tournament, we where battleing near a tyranid nest that fired mines at us start of every turn. before you started your turn the opponent got to roll d3 dice to see how many mines he could fire, using the new small blast rules you fired the mines at the enemy before they started their movement phase.
Unfortunately this was a rather uneventful game.
We only played 3 turns! so much for my strategy, I have no idea how a sniper force and a TMC army who spent the whole game hiding (thus not moving much) could take so long to move....time flies you know.
I had my 2 HS fexs with long range guns and my tyrant shoot at some guardians who where trying to make it onto the objective.
I shot the mines at his vypers, taking out 1 on turn 1, 2 on turn 2 and 1 on turn 3.
He usd his mines to do 2 wounds onto my HS fex.
In the end I could not make it onto the objective with my army as I didnt realize we would not have time to play all the turns, I think turn 3 took like well over an hour, which is just wrong!!!
the only CC was my 2 raveners charging 3 pathfinders and killing them, they then consolidated into a avatar, doing another 3 wounds onto it before the avatar killed one of them, 2 WLs charged the other ravener killing it but also coming into my winged tyrants charge range, since the WL was in cover it struck at the same time as my tyrant and did 2 wounds onto it. the tyrant then destroyed the WL and consolidated into the other that was out of cover however this was turn 3 and no more turns where played.
As for shooting I shot down 4 vypers, maybe 6 rangers and 10 or so guardians.
He shot down my tyrant guard, and a fex of mine down to half strength, he also managed (with 3 turns fire from his WHOLE army) to take my 2 gaunt squads to 3 each, both under scoring.
Overall I killed:
4 vypers
half Avatar
WL
3 pathfinders
3-6 rangers
1.5 squads of guardians
Or something like that
I lost 2 raveners, 2 zoanthroapes, tyrant guard, half elite fex.
Opponent had 1 guardian squad on the objective.
I won by 90VPs so it was a draw!
If only I had realized the game was going to be so slow, I could have easily moved my whole army onto the objective, with only 3 turns fire his army would not have done enough to take the win but this is the first tourny game I did not play the full 6 turns so I just didnt see it coming,
So that was it, tourny was over
Game 1: 20/0
Game 2: 20/0 (tied on 1st place)
Game 3: 13/7 (against my mate)
Game 4: 13/7 (damn sneaky nids) (in 2nd? place)
Game 5: 10/10 (fall to 5th place!)
The tyranid player with BIOVORES beat me! he was 2nd or 3rd lol!
Had I played a little better against the alaitoc I would now own a hierophant....so sad! (well maybe not just alittle, I would have needed 17/3 win....one can always dream)
