Lotr GT 2006 luento + tulevia lisäosia

TLA:ssa oli turnausreportti brittien GT:stä ja sen yhteydessä kerrottiin myös jotakin uutta tulevista LotR-lisäosista.

Kiinnostavina kohtina mielestäni ainakin nämä:
- Rohan Outridereista tullee miniheroja
- TTT:ssa tulee geneerisiä, helposti konvertoitavia metallienttejä, joiden säännöissä ei ole sitä vanhaa "treeish" -riesaa
- ROTK:ssa tulee Druedaineja (eli siis niitä púkel-miesten esikuvia.)
- kääpiöt ovat luultavasti seuraavan kunnollisen lisäosan sankareina. Asevalintana kääpiöille hilparit (poleaxe). Cold Drakeja pahiksille vielä mietitään.
- Legions of Middle Earthista tulee GW:n virallinen "Garothin Lista". Eli siis tulevissa Grand Tournamenteissa pelataan poikkeuksetta tämän lisäosan teemasäännöillä.
- Lisenssikuviot ovat edelleen aivan järjettömät. Esim. sentinelit voitiin tehdä koska Sam ja Frodo näkivät pidennetyssä FotR-leffassa laulavia haltioita. Kirjapuolelta GW:llä on oikeudet ainoastaan osaan Tolkienin elinaikana julkaistuista kamoista eikä mihinkään hänen kuolemansa jälkeen julkaistuihin juttuihin. Myöskään LotR-kirjan lopussa oleviin appendixeihin ei ole oikeuksia, ainoastaan itse päätarinaan.

The LOTR GT Seminar

Adam and Alessio introduced “The Two Towers” game.
They explained that they would try and fill most of the gaps: Metal ents (easily convertible) were on the bill, and Rohan Heroes (Theodred, Hama, Erkenbrand). Also they told us how “Scouting Uruk-Hai” were to become a self-sufficient army, and a fun and competitive one at that. There is to be a new scout-captain with a crossbow, who’s name Kane knows. He held up a plastic “scout uruk” sprue, which, Ian reliably informs me, included 1/3 bowmen, 1/3 archers and 1/3 “naked” uruks.
Next up were the dunlendings. We got no actual pictures of them, but were told that the new models were “excellent” and that they represented the Dunlendings as they were when they actively fought the rohirrim for Calenardhon, rather than the “angry tramps” the film depicts. They are, Adam said, like a cross between the film dunlendings and the rohirrim.
Next Adam mentioned the rohan “Outriders” who were “light scouting cavalry”, pretty close to dunedain. Adam cited that they were great fun to play with, and were slightly weaker, if possible, than Beregond as a hero. I assume they are either 1 fate point or 1 might point, but we shall see…Someone shouted out “like Fatty” and after general applause Adam said “a little stronger”.
The slideshow, which was fairly short, was now over, and questions began. I don’t have them in order (forgot to take notes) but I think I’ve got everything:

Dwarves
Basically these are “probably” going to be in the next proper supplement. More troops choices and heroes will come, with poleaxes as a possibility and hippo-riders (?) NOT! Also Cold Drakes were hypothesized but not definite.

Lack of Monstrous Mounts for Good
Basically someone said that they’d tried out the old rules for ents, and that they weren’t working without a monstrous mount rule (which evil has and good doesn’t). Although Adam was slightly overcome by the guy’s argument, he did manage to get across that the “treeish” special rule was gone.

Licensing
The guys also explained (or tried to) what Tolkien stuff they were allowed to use, and what they weren’t. Basically, they could use stuff which is explicitly in the LOTR main text (not Appendices) and that’s about it. They cannot use Hobbit or Silmarillion stuff. This is essentially because Tolkien sold off the rights for the stuff published in his lifetime, but his son Christopher still holds the rights for everything that he published himself, and is holding on quite tightly.

Things not coming
Sorry guys, but these aren’t coming. Shame, but true:

Hourns (they were too much like normal trees on bases)

Isengard Trolls
As everyone knows now, but didn’t then, these guys will appear in TTT

Druedain
These men, the forest men who give the rohirrim a safe passage through the woods, are set to come in ROTK.

Legions of Middle Earth
This will be an explanation of the forces you can use for theming. It will contain several different lists for each race (e.g. Gondor included “Ithilien” “The White Tower” and “Dol Amroth”) and will be enforced for theming points in future tournaments.
