Hey all,
I just moved to Helsinki from the U.S.
Gamers I am looking for:
I have a large WWII German 25/28mm army and would like to know if anyone plays that scale for WWII.
I plan on getting a army for FoW (Flames of War), but money is tight so perhaps this will have to wait.
I also have the rules to The Great War recently released from Warhammer Historical.
Of course I have SM for 40k and dwarfs for WFB but those would be off topic :P
I checked out the Fantasiapelit website and didn't see any regular games listed and when I asked where to find more gamers I was told this site would be my best bet (that and O.R.C. which is located in Espoo)
So if I get a few replies or such I was considering making a WWII 25/28mm campaign OR WWI. Also, if a lot of you play medieval/Napoleonic let me know as I was hoping to collect ranges with these, but what scale and game system :D
Also - if this is not in the right forum for such things I apologize ahead of time to the MODs as my Finnish (despite taking 2 classes so far!) is not really that good - sorry ;-)
New to Helsinki and looking for Historical/40k/WFB gamers!

Re: New to Helsinki and looking for Historical/40k/WFB gamers!
We have a fairly active group playing mainly 15mm ancients using DBM rules.
Personally I might be interested in WWI gaming although I'm not familiar with the ruleset you mentioned. Our WWII projects are currently in 10/12mm scale. Other periods are also occasionally played.

Hi,
There is also a mailing list for historical gamers you can poll to find opponents in Finland:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tinatorvi/
Ropecon convention is soon in Dipoli, Espoo. Easy access from Helsinki as event is in the campus of Helsinki University of Technology. It could be an easy way to meet other gamers in Finland. It covers roleplaying games, LARP, boardgames, figure painting competition, Warhammer tournament and other tournaments and demo games. Many of the ORC people should be there.

Regarding Napoleonic battles there is one group in Helsinki which does Russo-Swedish war 1808-09 in 15mm using General de Brigade rules:

I'm personally playing currently a Legends of the Old west camping and in the near future I'm looking for some Pirate skirmish action.
But in general I'm interested in WWI in 28mm and I have quite many figures for this period (British and Germans), but unfortunately they all are unpainted. Learning Great war rules should not be difficult, I guess they follow the GW convention. Same applies to my WWII 28mm armies. I have Finns and Germans. Plus a smaller sets for Russians, Americans and British. I have been mostly collecting, not playing :)
